Get the Most out of the 🌑 Eclipse Season ☀️ With Crystals

Hibiscus Moon astronomy, Crystals, energy work 8 Comments

Today we are talking about getting the most out of the eclipse season with crystals! During an eclipse, the sun, the moon and the earth are in perfect alignment. Now we don’t usually get an eclipse every time we have a full moon or new moon. During eclipse season, when we get the three celestial bodies, the sun, moon and earth, in perfect alignment their various types of cosmic energies become aligned or stacked. When that happens, they magnify and amplify each other.

In physics, we call this the principle of superposition. That’s when similar energies easily come into alignment and when they do that, they amplify each other.

A lot of people are sensitive to these types of energetic shifts and can feel them easily. Especially if you’re an empath, Reiki healer, or you do energy work of any kind. So let me ask you…are you feeling it ramping up? If not, you may start to as we get a little bit closer!

Now, eclipses usually happen in pairs, but this time it’s not going to happen that way. We had our first eclipse pair of 2018 last eclipse season (January – February). Now we’re headed into our final season for 2018, so after this eclipse season we’re done with eclipses for 2018. Eclipses usually occur, like I said, as a solar and a lunar, so the energies are balanced, right? The time in between is a little funky but the energies get balanced by the two eclipses.

Well this time is a trio! It’s actually going to be a sandwiching trio. The lunar eclipse is in the middle and then we have a solar eclipse on either end, so the energy may get a bit wacky. Also, they’re going to be two weeks apart. You’ll barely have time to integrate the energies and recalibrate before the next one hits us. However, we have tools and support within the crystals and other modalities that can help us get us through this type of situation. It’s about riding the energy, not letting the energy wave ride you and topple you all over the place.
The First Eclipse
The first eclipse will be July 13th and it’s a partial solar eclipse. None of these eclipses are going to be like our August eclipse from last Summer where it was an amazing event and most of North America was able to go on a road trip if they wanted to see it. However, the energies are still heightened, and it doesn’t matter if you’re not in a place where you can visually see the eclipse. Just like every full moon or new moon, no matter where you are on the planet we’re all affected by the energies.

It’s about working with the energy of the new moon. This is a time for planting seeds for upcoming plans, setting new intentions, enhanced and amplified intuition. It’s a very yin, feminine, intuitive, right-brained kind of energy. Just like any new moon is. We don’t actually see the moon during a new moon at all though right? This is about the solar, but it’s a new moon event.

Because of that, my favorite crystals to work with during this time are Labradorite, which is closely related to Moonstone. It has that similar blue flash and that iridescent quality. Labradorite is all about tapping into magic, but it’s also quite protective. If you’re feeling like you need some protective vibrational frequencies during this new moon event, then try working with Labradorite!

The other crystal that I like working with during this time is Indigo Gabbro. It’s also known as Mystic Merlinite, but what happens is while Indigo Gabbro can be purchased relatively affordably, when you call it Mystic Merlinite, for some reason the price goes up. So, look for Indigo Gabbro, it’s gorgeous. It’s relatively new in terms of when it was discovered. Currently it’s only found (as far as we know), on the island of Madagascar. It’s this black stone with a large gray mottling, and if you take it out in the sun you’ll actually see some iridescence in the gray mottling.
The Second Eclipse
Let’s talk about the July 27th lunar eclipse. This is the one that’s sandwiched between the two solar eclipses. It is a total lunar eclipse. Which happens when our Earth moves in between the sun and the moon, blocking the reflection of the sun’s rays.

We’re going to have this total lunar eclipse on July 27th, but if you’re in North America we’re not going to see it because it’s happening in the middle of our daylight hours, but the moon is going to pass directly through the Earth’s shadow, so it’s going to be obscured. It’s not going to go away completely. It’ll have kind of a reddish tint to it from the shadow. That happens when some of the sunlight comes around and hits it and it looks really, really cool if you’re in a place on the planet where you’re going to be able to see it.

The energies of a lunar eclipse are the same as a really powerful full moon. It’s a very high amplitude kind of energy. However, specifically for this total lunar eclipse I’m going to advise you to look at the plans you make and think about them, but don’t take any action. Don’t make any changes. No new anything. Try to just evaluate any necessary changes for the next cycle because you want to keep in mind, we’re going to be smack dab in the middle of Mercury retrograde during this total lunar eclipse and this crazy eclipse season.

Lunar eclipses in general are good energy that bring about change. Don’t you go initiating any of your own changes or own big plans or big contracts because this is a time when it’s important to let things happen as they will. Be grateful for whatever lessons you learned during the last lunar cycle or for whatever intentions and seeds you planted that did come to fruition.
Eclipse Season Crystals
Moonstone

The first crystal, you may have guessed, is Moonstone. It can be any kind of Moonstone, peach, rainbow, it doesn’t have to be a white Moonstone. Any of them are great for working with lunar energy in any moon phase, actually. Moonstone promotes goddess energy, divination, feminine energy, and that makes sense because the moon is known for goddess feminine energy, right? It also has a connection to water. It’s a great stone to work with for allowing you to more efficiently tap into your intuition.
Opal

Another crystal that I like to work with at this time is Opal. This particular crystal has such a pretty iridescence. Opal really helps to align us with lunar energy and watery energy, it’s about purification.

It actually contains molecules of water within it. If you live in a very dry climate or you’ve stored it for a very, very long time, it can end up drying out. If you notice your Opal has lost its iridescence, you’ll want to put it in a plastic bag with a cotton ball and a few drop of water. Wrap it up in that cotton, close up the bag, and it will rehydrate itself!
Selenite

The next crystal that I like for total lunar eclipse energy is Selenite. It embodies goddess energy and it’s a crystal that allows us to more easily communicate with our higher selves.
The Third Eclipse
Now let’s talk about the last eclipse in the season, and that’s the one happening on August 11th which is also during that Mercury retrograde period. It’s another partial solar eclipse. The last eclipse is taking place two weeks after the total lunar eclipse. With the moon having moved halfway around its orbit, (and again it’s a new moon again) we’ll be right back where we started. The other partial solar eclipse taking place, will be the total opposite of that FIRST partial solar eclipse. It’s also important to note this one will be extreme northern latitude.

In terms of cosmic energy it’s going to be similar to the July 13th eclipse, except that you’re now in Mercury retrograde. Which means you’ll need to be a bit more careful. Be mindful of not starting anything new, just reviewing, reviewing, and extra reviewing.
Working With Crystals 🔮
When I say, “work with the crystals,” I like to give specifics of what that actually looks like. I’d also like to leave you with some examples of how you can work with these crystals. There are loads of ways to do so, you could simply meditate with the crystals…or, like we said before, that contemplation time during the Mercury retrograde eclipses, you can just sit with the crystal while you’re contemplating, it helps to entrain your energy field. You can create and work with an eclipse intention crystal grid or consider creating a specific crystal grid while using those crystals within your grid.

Some people also sit outside during the eclipse event. Again, even though you can’t see it, you’re sensing the energies and you’re even more connected with them when you’re sitting out within Mother Nature. I did this during the total solar eclipse and it was such a powerful thing. You can just sit directly on the Earth to activate and attune to the energies between yourself, the crystal, and the eclipse.

Next you could put together an eclipse energy mojo kit, and include several crystals in a little pouch to carry around with you. Be careful when you’re carrying them around because they tend to hit each other. You want to be gentle with them so that you’re not causing any damage to the crystals themselves.

You can also take an eclipse energy bath, and add some drops of jasmine essential oil because jasmine is very closely related to lunar energies. It carries intense new and full moon frequencies, so it’s good for any of these eclipses.

Keep in mind that Selenite is the only crystal listed above that shouldn’t go in water.  People freak out and think that it’s going to melt if you put it in water. It’s not going to melt. It’s not going anywhere. If you submerge Selenite in water for a long period of time it will start to become dull. This is because it becomes water soluble over a long period of time.

Hope you enjoyed the blog thank you so much for following along today!

How to Work with the Energy of the the Solar Eclipse

Hibiscus Moon astronomy, moon 31 Comments

On Aug. 21, 2017, we’ll all be under the rare spell of a Total Solar Eclipse. This is an INTENSE event; both on a cosmic as well as an energetic level.

Our Sun is also currently going through some extreme changes and so, I feel from here on out it’s more important than ever to pay attention to these cosmic events that involve our Sun (Sol) in any way.

Those of you that have been following me for a while know that I love to ride our local cosmic energies. Now, I used to avoid giving out advice on how to work with the energy of a solar eclipse because I was still experimenting with it myself, but I’ve since worked it out and done it enough that I feel confident in sharing this info out with you.

On Aug. 21, people all across North America will get to see our sun obscured by our moon.

SIDENOTE: I remember the last time we had a total solar eclipse… where it was visible for us here in North America; it was 1979. I was a wee one in the 5th grade and there was a whole lot of upheaval, chaos and change happening in my life at that time. Eclipses can do that, especially if you’re not aware of what’s happening on a cosmic level. I certainly was not.

Daylight will seem like twilight and our temps will noticeably cool off. There may be some wind too and an eery feeling in the air… no wonder the ancients used to be terrified by this event!

If you’re in the right place, you’ll even be able to see huge glittering streams of light magically beaming around our Moon.  And there are tons of cool eclipse resources for you to geek out on here.

Everyone in N. America will be able to experience this eclipse in some form, ranging from 50-75% of our Sun eclipsed. Using proper eye protection, you’ll be able to already see an apparent “bite” taken out of the Sun up to an hour before Totality. What’s happening is our moon will move into perfect alignment between us and our local star, Sun (aka Sol), effectively blocking the Sun (except for its outer Corona) from our view.

This is mega-powerful energy here! Think of it…

the Sun, the Moon & the Earth are in perfect alignment and these various types of cosmic energies are STACKED, magnifying and amplifying them.
In physics we call this the Principle of Superposition; when various energies of a similar sort come into alignment and add up, amplifying each other. Very powerful stuff indeed. (Click here for NASA map)

Breaking Down the Energies
Will you be on the “Path of Totality”? (click to check)

[caption id="attachment_20529" align="aligncenter" width="650"] Image credit: NASA[/caption]

What’s that?

That’s the precise path on our planet where the Sun will be totally eclipsed. For others outside the path, it may be partially eclipsed. For example, I know that here in my spot in Florida, the Sun will be between 85-75% eclipsed. Still pretty rad!

Don’t fret if you’re not going to be in the Path of Totality. You don’t need to be able to visibly see an eclipse for its energy to be able to affect you. And that’s a good thing too b/c it’s very difficult to catch a total eclipse, especially a solar one! You can be anywhere on planet and you will be affected by its energies, like it or not. You can also work with the energies, should you choose to.

Just as I teach with crystals if an energy is High Amplitude (meaning it carries a whopping lot of energy) it can mess with the base frequency of an object. Yeah, I classify an eclipse as a high amp event which leaves an imprint on Mother Earth’s grid (all over planet) which, in turn,  influences us. Make sense? And yes, the effects of its energy on us has been tested by many a scientist.

Many people are quite sensitive to these energetic shifts and can easily feel them. Those who are empaths or work closely with high-frequency energies like crystals or do energy work are even more sensitive to these sort of cosmic energetic shifts. If you’re not feeling it… that may be a signal to you to get out there, barefoot on the Earth & get grounded and connected.

This eclipse is the “bookend partner” eclipse to the August 7 Partial Lunar Eclipse we just had. As I’ve been teaching for decades, eclipses usually occur in pairs of solar + lunar; a balancing of energies. During this “in-between window”, we enter a time of energy-in-flux where things get a bit crazy for us. A total solar eclipse is also a time of activations (both cosmic and biological) and leveling-up, but with this August solar eclipse, that in-flux time ends a few days after the actual eclipse is over; the energetic “window” closes. Although the portal for this time of change closes, the integration period can last up to one year, so you may continue to feel the effects of it. By the way, this will be the last eclipse of any sort for 2017… but it’s a DOOZIE! So hold on.

At this time, the Moon’s energy will be very strong because it’s gonna be closer to the Earth than usual. The Sun’s energy, on the other hand, is somewhat diminished during the eclipse. So, this makes for a more intense than usual New Moon energy; essentially, a New Moon on steroids.

This is a time for:

  • planting seeds for your BIG PLANS, MAJOR CHANGES
  • setting important new intentions
  • greatly enhanced and amplified intuition/divination
  • major yin energy (feminine, intuitive, right-brained)
  • planetary activations
  • DNA activations

Since the solar eclipse seems to intensify our focus on the Sun while amplifying our connection to the Moon, I feel it’s important to actually connect with both solar & lunar energy at this time.

CAUTION: Even when 99% of the Sun’s surface (the photosphere) is obscured during the partial phases of a solar eclipse (before it gets to Totality), the remaining crescent Sun is still intense enough to cause a retinal burn when looking at it, so please be careful! Click here for eye safety tips during a Solar Eclipse. No, sunglasses WILL NOT BE ENOUGH!

Solar Eclipse Crystals
I used to think b/c this is a “solar” event that working with solar energies was the thing to do, but through doing this work myself over the years, I’ve found it to be much more effective to work with the lunar energies instead. I also like to layer various types of energies together of similar frequency (enter the crystals!) to attune my energies to these events. We can totally use crystals in tandem with these eclipse energies.

Here are my fav’s:

  • Labradorite – It’s actually closely related to moonstone and it has that similar flash; a blue flash that you get in certain light, that iridescent quality. Labradorite is all about tapping into magic.  Plus it’s also quite protective.  If you’re feeling like you need some protective vibrational frequencies during a certain phase of the moon, then go ahead and try working with labradorite.
  • 2. Indigo Gabbro (aka Mystic Merlinite) – Gorgeous indigo gabbro is newly discovered & only found on the island of Madagascar. It’s a black stone with large gray mottling in it that can be polished to a high shine. If you hold it out in the sunlight, you’ll notice that the grays in it have a sort of violet iridescence that’s beautifully unique. A gentle stone, I find it to be quite lovely to work with it at New Moon time & for setting intentions. It also has a very calming quality to it.

    3. Dendritic Agate (aka Merlinite)- for further entraining with that boosted intuition! It’s a rather forceful energy though, so be careful when working with it. You may want to go slowly & try it out in small doses at first.

    Things I like to do:

    • Create and work with an Eclipse Intention Setting Crystal Grid
    • Sit outside during the eclipse on the Earth with a select crystal firmly planted in the Earth in front of you to activate and attune it to the energies of the eclipse
    • Put together an Eclipse Energy crystal mojo kit including several crystals in a little pouch to carry around with you
    • Take a Solar Eclipse Energy Bath (add several drops of jasmine essential oil [carries intense New Moon frequencies] along with your chosen eclipse crystals)

In my Certified Crystal Healer Course, I go over how to do things like this in great detail and, of course, so much more. We happen to be in the tail-end of our registration window for my 2017 LIVE term right now and tuition will be increasing to full price this Friday. Check it out if you’re interested.

Are you planning on working with the Solar Eclipse energies? Will you create a Crystal Grid or a Mojo Kit? I’d love to hear about your plans, Crystal Hottie. 🙂 Please share below!

How to Tell the Difference | Merlinite, Mystic Merlinite & Blizzard Stone

    Hibiscus Moon Crystals 20 Comments

I decided it was high time to write this blog post to help eliminate some confusion around three minerals that are often confused with each other:

    • Merlinite
    • Mystic Merlinite
    • Blizzard Stone

These 3 stones are ones that my students sometimes aren’t quite sure how to tell apart and the naming itself can be quite confusing.

    Merlinite
The name merlinite is what’s known as a marketing term & not a technical geological one, however I feel it’s a useful name that helps us to distinguish it.

    [caption id="attachment_18057" align="alignright" width="264"] Dendritic Agate aka Merlinite[/caption]

This stone is actually a dendritic agate that is mostly white with black dendrite “branches”; a combination of  a quartz (the white in this stone) over psilomelane (manganese oxide)…the black in this stone. The psilomelane has a tree branch-like pattern to it & that’s where it gets the “dendritic” part of its name.

    Metaphysical Properties:

Merlinite is all about magic and boosting your intuition. You can also use it for past life recall.

Additionally, this stone is great for connecting with the elementals, making psychic connections, and allowing you to peer between the veils and dimensions; allowing you to make connections with the spirit world, pulling back the veil so you can see what’s going on in those other dimensions. It’s a rather forceful energy though, so be careful when working with it. You may want to go slowly & try it out in small doses at first.

Now to make this really confusing, there’s a type of dendritic opal that looks really similar to merlinite and people also call this kind of opal “merlinite” even though its not the same thing. Different minerals…I know…this can get very confusing.

    [caption id="attachment_18058" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Merlinite Dendritic Opal variety[/caption]
    Mystic Merlinite
First let’s set the record straight on the name. It’s real geological name is indigo gabbro. It seems as though a trademark was attempted on “Mystic Merlinite” but then was abandoned so it never went through. Anyhow, the name indigo gabbro is the name I prefer to use to eliminate confusion along with false price inflation based on a name. What’s in a name? Apparently, a lot. 😉

Why do we need 2 different names for the same thing anyway? I’m not down with that.

Gorgeous indigo gabbro is newly discovered & only found on the island of Madagascar. It’s a black stone with large grey mottling in it that can be polished to a high shine. If you hold it out in the sunlight, you’ll notice that the greys in it have a sort of violet iridescence that’s beautifully unique.

Metaphysical Properties: A gentle stone, I find it to be quite lovely to work with it at New Moon time & for setting intentions at that time. It also has a very calming quality to it.

    Blizzard Stone
This stone is also a type of gabbro & this name is another marketing term, however I also appreciate this name b/c it helps us to distinguish it from a number of other different types of gabbro. This is also a black gabbro, but this time with tiny specks of white, hence its name. Unlike indigo gabbro, it doesn’t polish up with a glassy finish.

Made up of a number of different minerals it’s found throughout the Alaskan Wilderness, another good reason for it’s appropriate name.

Metaphysical Properties: Another gentle stone, as gabbros usually are, blizzard stone is one to turn to for balancing of our energies. I also find it to be useful for protection from EMF pollution and a wonderful grounding stone.

Did that clear things up for you Crystal Hottie?  I aim to educate!  So, I hope this was helpful. Do you own any of these beautiful crystals? Which 1 is your fav? Share with us in the comments below.
