Top Five Simple Ways to Use Your Crystals Every Day

Hibiscus Moon Crystal Healing, Everyday/Personal Stuffs 14 Comments

Ancient peoples truly appreciated and put to good use the extraordinary healing properties of crystals. We can learn so much from them and apply their wisdom to our modern lives to inspire us to work with crystals every day.

Unfortunately, us mod-humans, have mostly pushed aside or just forgotten all about our effective ancient stone and mineral know-how.

The good news is that recently we’ve experienced quite the Rock Revival. Am I right? A total resurgence and re-interest in the energetic healing powers of crystals and stones. (I feel we’re simply REMEMBERING what worked well for us without the nasty side-effects of other possible “remedies.”)

Sneak Peek: One of my recommendations is daily crystal meditation. For a simple meditation, grab this free throat chakra meditation mp3 and drop into some quality time with you, your rocks and your breath.

First Some Interesting Crystal Healing History
Humans have used crystals for millennia for various healing and protective purposes.

We now have evidence regarding the earliest hominids that were working with crystal energy as early as about 40,000 years ago.

This is specific evidence of ancient human remains buried with jade-looking (chlorite) jewelry. Anthropologists gather that it was used for either healing or some sort of protection, like a talisman of some sort. So far, this is the earliest evidence of crystal healing to date.

Ancient civilizations have also been documenting the use of working with stones or laying on of stones; where they were placing them on the body for different modes of healing, protection and connecting with Mama Earth. We even have evidence of this documented in the Bible.

Yes, metaphysical powers of crystals were no mystery to most of our ancient cultures including:

  • Egyptians
  • Native North Americans
  • Chinese
  • Indians
  • South Americans
  • Australian Aborigines
  • Sumerians

… and many, many others regularly adorned their bodies with gemstone jewelry and embellished their buildings, carvings, statues, etc. with sacred stones. This was the norm, not the exception. The ancients had many ways of working with crystals every day.

Crystal Info Dissemination
Civilizations have worked with stones and have experimented with them for thousands of years, honing and perfecting this information and techniques.

When the anthropologists sit down to study various cultures and ask them, “Where does this information come from?”, it’s repeatedly revealed that it’s been passed down from generation to generation to generation.

They’ll often say, “It was passed on by others.” Now, who are the others? That’s left up to interpretation. You can take that deeper wherever you’d like to go, but that’s beyond the scope of this blog post. 😉

Most of our crystal books and their stone correspondences are based on this passed down data.

Not all of them…

Some contain info that’s been channeled or personally researched by the author, but the majority have a strong foundation largely based on this ancient information.

And it’s great to KNOW all this crystal stuff, but keep in mind…

Knowledge is useless unless it’s applied. Right?

And I don’t know about you, but for me to CONSISTENTLY apply something, it had better not take up much of my time or brain power, plus it has to work itself easily into my everyday routines. Otherwise, it just becomes some beautifully complicated ceremony that I did that one time and never had time to do again.

Now that may work for some stuff but for most of the things that we want to apply crystals to; it generally works out best if we work with them often and consistently; making them part of our everyday routines.

So, how do we do that? – actually put them to practical everyday use?

Well, I can tell you what I do…

My five favorite ways to work with my crystals every day:
1. Crystal Grid
Crystal grids are like a manifestation-amplifier for any area of your life — money, health, relationships, happiness. On any given day, I’ll have at least one (but usually two) crystal grids set up somewhere in my home to manifest a certain intention I’m working on. There’s always something I could be working on!

I have a recent blog post over here with specifics on getting you started with a crystal grid.
2. Gem Elixir
Basically, a gem elixir is crystal water. When made with the intention of drinking it, I’m always mindful of toxicity levels of any of the stones that I use. I also consider the Mohs Hardness or rusting probability (iron content) when I’m concerned about preserving the stone’s integrity and beauty.

Gem elixirs are water entrained with specific crystal healing vibrations… because subtle energies can be charged and stored in water quite efficiently. Here are two different blog posts where I give you an example of how I work gem elixirs into my everyday routines: Hibiscus Iced Tea for Immune Boosting and Magical Mermaid Crystal Tea. But, listen… most days I just take a safe tumbled stone and plop it into my drinking water.
3. Crystal Meditation
This is something I strive to work into every day. Some days it just doesn’t happen. However, I’ve found that if I do it in the morning, that seems to work best. I usually end up getting my meditation in about four days a week.

And this is the one activity in this list… that if I had to choose just one, I would not do without this one. I find it to be the most transformative for my everyday psyche and mindset.

Before meditation, I simply choose a stone to work with. It’s usually the same stone that I’ll work with for at least a week, if not longer. Then I’ll rest it in my left (receiving energy) hand or if it feels uncomfy that day I’ll rest it in front of me on my meditation cushion while having it touch some part of my body and allow it to influence my vibratory field for what’s usually a ten-minute meditation. Most people have a Rose Quartz. Or an Amethyst. Grab one and give it a go.

[thrive_2step id='22338'][/thrive_2step]
4. Chakra Balancing
This is an active and highly effective technique that can really effect change with recalibrating your major energy centers in your body. If you’re new to chakras entirely, I suggest you start with part 1 in my chakra blog post series here.

This is the art of laying on of stones.  There are many steps and nuances to it that I teach my students in my Certified Crystal Healing Course, but to do a very simple chakra balancing session, you’re taking seven crystals whose colors correspond to each chakra and lay them over each chakra leaving them in place for about 15 minutes.
5. Crystal Jewelry
Now, in contrast to chakra balancing, stone jewelry is a very passive approach you can take with your crystal healing. You can simply find jewelry that incorporates the stones you’d most like to work with and wear them, allowing their energy field to entrain with and influence your own. That’s it! Does it get any easier than that?

Now there are many more ways to work with our crystals, right? These are just my personal methods that have fallen effortlessly into my almost-daily routines. I would love you to share your top methods with our Crystal Family! What are your favorite ways to work with crystals every day? Please tell me in the comments below.

Crystal Blessings,

Giving You Permission to Hate My Guts!

Hibiscus Moon Crystal Healing 21 Comments

You may not like me… and that’s OK.

As long as you learned something valuable from me, I’m totally OK with you not liking me… or even hating my guts!

I got used to that as a classroom science teacher. In fact, I’d sometimes hear a pissed off student call me a flurry of colorful names after refusing to change a grade. Then I’d pretend I didn’t hear it (to avoid having to discipline them in yet another way) and have to hide my face behind my grade book while I was snickering and praying they didn’t catch me in the act. Not snicker in an evil cackle-ish kind of way but in my hard-to-stifle immature sort of way that I have… that part of me that commiserates with a teenager’s angst over her or his “STUPID-ASS SCIENCE TEACHER”! I would totally vibe with them and get it.

BUT I STILL WASN’T GONNA BUDGE ON THAT GRADE, BABE!

Students hating me (at first) because they thought I was “too hard” but then later actually thanking me because I pushed them harder and they rose to the challenge… were better for it when they went on to higher grade levels, took those dang-fangled standardized tests (don’t get me started!) and truly understood the science… all because I made it clear they were not going to just coast with me. I was here to challenge them. I think for the most part my students had a totally different outlook by the end of the year. Many even say I was their favorite teacher ever. I’m NOT saying all this to brag but instead to prove a very important point.

Through the rigorous process of becoming a Nationally Board Certified Science Teacher, I learned the importance and value of student critical thinking and assessment of content knowledge. I’ve never given out grades like the “popular” teachers did. And I’m not about to start now with Crystal Healing Certifications just to make my life easier. I’ve seen many do it, but that just goes against every grain in my being.

Some of those science students of mine even went on to change their interests and or pursue scientific careers and majors in college because of how I was able to take them into the deep end of the pool with science… at first kicking and screaming and then later they were joyfully splashing around.  ❤️

And I notice the same thing now with some of my adult crystal healing students. I suppose it’s my signature teaching style.

So, I’ve got this demanding reputation and I’m proud of it!
It’s all about the Energy
And now with my Certified Crystal Healer students, I’m just as uncompromising, especially on certain aspects.

For instance, I require that our CCH students be mindful of the energy they bring into a transaction of any sort.

Meaning that they are mindful of:

  • how they carry themselves
  • how they transact energy of any sort (including money)
  • their boundaries
  • things that say and do

As that’s all energy you know.  Of course, I’m not looking for perfection, but as HMCA students and alumni, they’re held to a higher standard. Yes, we keep an eye on that; holding them accountable. I feel strongly as an educator and a certifying body and academy that it’s our responsibility to do that before allowing someone to go out into the world certified by us to facilitate energy work with others.

It’s not a Given
Unlike with some other institutions, not everybody gets to graduate as a Hibiscus Moon Certified Crystal Healer just because they paid the tuition. Since the beginning, I’ve held to this standard and have been saying it since the inception of my academy in 2011: you pay for the education, but you must EARN the certification. I feel this should hold true for any sort of school, but that’s another convo for another day!

Just as in a university with integrity (and a lot of them are losing that these days); if you don’t uphold the values, standards, and principles of that institution, or you don’t get the required grades OR show poor behavior, poor character; you’re not going to get to graduate from there. And rightly so!

Because what sort of integrity would that institution have if they let shit like that slide? How would that seem fair to all those who’ve graduated, met requirements and earned degrees from there? The prestige of that school would go out the window!

I’ve baked these non-wavering principles and integrity into the HMCA culture. Because I’ve done that and have refused to waiver from the beginning, our alumni and our community see the value and accomplishment in graduating as a Hibiscus Moon Certified Crystal Healer. It’s appreciated, well-earned, respected and admired.

Nope, I may not be your cup o’ tea.

I’d rather be someone’s double shot of Crystal Gem Elixir anyway. 😉

What to Expect
So maybe an easier “pay-and-get-your-instant-certificate-with-no-accountability-nor-assessment” deal is more your style. Because, you know, some places do it like that and if that’s what you’re looking for, no judgment at all!  But let me tell you now if that’s how you roll; HMCA is not for you. Better we know now, right?

(Hey now, please bear in mind that we do offer an “Audit” level for those looking to get the sparkly info for their own personal use. In that level, you’re not required to do any assignments, assessment nor any grad requirements).

Yeah, I could make it easy for all involved, both on our end and the student’s end) and go that EASY route. Then there would be tons more people certified as “Hibiscus Moon CCHs,” and we’d be registering scads more people.

But that goes against my very essence.
Running a course that requires no effort or demonstration of mastery to earn your credentials is certainly not what I was put here on Mama Earth for.
Nope.

Yeah, I could just slap together a course where you pay the fee, you get the content and maybe even a fancy-schmancy certificate to hang on your wall, and what you do with the info or don’t do with it is your business. I may never check on you again, nor hold you to any standards or code of ethics, and just throw a certificate and some initials at you, because you paid for it.

Well, the HMCA way, it’s not only harder for our students but for us on our end too. Yes, ask the Sparkle Team. The way I insist on doing things makes all our jobs much more complicated and incurs quite the expense in time, energy and money.  And even with these processes in place, I’m so very proud of the fact that we have over 1,400 graduates from over 40 countries around the globe.

Oh, and another thing… if you’re looking for a course that simply spews out crystal properties for you to memorize then this is not the course for you. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that but there are other courses out there if that’s more of what you resonate with.

Our method teaches you to really get to know your crystals & we take a more personal approach to that.
Have I scared you off yet?
What, am I crazy?

Am I trying to deliberately scare you off?

Absolutely not.

I just want to convey exactly the kind of institution that we are and to make sure that we both know what to expect from each other. I want it to be clear that you will be required to do the work. We will hold you to clearly defined standards while supporting you all the way. This way there are no surprises. It’s not that hard really. You just need to do the work and you have a full year to get it all done and we’ve built in more support then you’ll probably ever need just to over-deliver.
Why Do it the Hard Way?
When I set out to do this, I knew that graduating from Hibiscus Moon Crystal Academy needed to mean something–it needed to be admired, respected and have merit. That’s how our graduates and our Academy have earned the reputation we currently now have.

See, I’m super-passionate about what I do and I feel there is no greater joy than to see the delight or get an excited testimonial from a student who suddenly comprehends a certain concept or is now inspired to take it much deeper than they ever thought they wanted to go. NOTHING supersedes that. And working through the hard stuff, not relenting and not “making it easy”… that’s the only way to get there. So I’m willing to slog through the “hard stuff” to get YOU there. Then you’ll see how rewarding it is too!

It’s critical to me that when you register with us you:

  • are committed to learning
  • want to build a strong foundation through critical thinking and assessment
  • will profoundly develop your crystal practice, confidence and skills before sharing it out with clients
  • will come to recognize crystals as powerful energetic tools and have adequate training to use them in an effective, yet secure, safe & sensible manner

I want to continue to make sure that we attract the right kind of student here at the HMCA.

OK, now that we’ve covered who it’s for and who it’s not for, if you’re still here reading this you may be happy to learn that our Spring 2018 registration will be opening very soon! Get on our Wait List here for first notice and some pretty juicy perks.

As I said, I’ve given you permission to hate my guts. It’s really OK by me. Just as long as I’ve prodded you to challenge yourself, I’m totally down with it.

Now, as long as the conversation stays thoughtful, respectful and civil, I invite you to comment below … what do you think about our certification standards?

Crystal Blessings!

“Do the Work” to Heal – What Does that Mean?

Hibiscus Moon energy work 7 Comments

Do the Work
Today I want to talk about something that I teach about in my course… something I feel is very important for our Certified Crystal Healers and just generally for any energy worker to know & remember… and that is:
Anything at all that’s been left to fester or left unresolved within our energy field, will keep manifesting itself in our physical, mental, spiritual, or emotional life until we do the work to heal it.

So, anything left unresolved will keep manifesting itself until we do the work to heal it. There’s no skipping over that. There’s no getting around it. It’s just going to keep coming up.
Unresolved issues left in the energy field unresolved long enough; it just gets denser and denser until it shows up in your physical field as something that you CANNOT ignore.
It’s like what we all call the “spiritual two by four” smack right upside the head. There’s no escaping it.

“You’ve got to do the work.”

It’s something we procrastinate doing, we avoid, or we don’t want to look at… we pull the ostrich with their head-in-the-sand move.

We don’t want to deal with it.

We don’t want to face it head-on.

We don’t want to “do the work”… either because it sounds like too much…

or maybe we’re not quite sure what that even means!

In our metaphysical community, we often hear that we “need to do the work” if we want to “ascend” or evolve spiritually, that we need to get in there and do the hard stuffs. But what does that actually look like? Specifically.

I wanted to explore that here in this blog post a bit further and really…
Unpack what “doing the work” means
These are some steps that I’ve found to be quite helpful for myself over the years. It certainly doesn’t mean it’s the only way. I always say that there are many paths up to the summit of the mountain. So, these steps are just one way of approaching it. 🙂

  • Simply recognize, become aware that there’s something to be worked on. I think 50% of doing the work is just being aware that there’s something there that needs to be worked on in order to be healed. Because once you bring it into your awareness, you see it come up again and again and you consciously start working on it and start peeling away the layers; start bubbling it up to the surface so that it can be dealt with. So, how do we recognize or become aware if we’re not already? Think to yourself…are there patterns of things, difficulties, problems that keep coming up again and again in my life? Are there things that really are triggering you or really piss you off, something that really just gets your goat? That’s something that needs to be looked at more carefully. Are you holding any resentments or grudges? Do you have anxieties around certain things? Really feel the feelings and facing them is all part of recognizing and awareness. All of that is part of bringing it up to the surface so that it can be healed. And like I said, a lot of times that’s all that needs to happen for it to be healed. But there are also times you need to go deeper.
  • Next, don’t waste energy on who to blame for whatever issues. Instead, focus on how you’re going to EMPOWER yourself to resolve it. Ditch the blame! (BTW, morganite is a great crystal to work with to help us ditch the victim/blame mindset).[caption id="attachment_20747" align="aligncenter" width="700"] Rob Lavinsky, iRocks.com – CC-BY-SA-3.0 [CC BY-SA 3.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0)], via Wikimedia Commons[/caption]
  • The next step is to set crystal-clear intentions to clear it.  Once we’ve recognized and brought awareness to whatever the issue is, then you also need to go in and say,
“I want to clear this. I’m going to be working on clearing this. This is something I’m going to be focusing on.”
So that every time it comes up you’re also thinking about dropping into heart center (thinking with love in your heart) and trying to be the observer so that you can discern the feelings coming up for you and start working on clearing it. ❤ I highly recommend creating a crystal grid as a helpful intention-setting tool for this!
  • The next step is to create some sort of daily ritual and commit to it. Perhaps it can look like this:
    • a daily morning contemplation or prayer
    • next a meditation
    • then some crystal work later on in the evening
    • along with some daily journaling. you can check out my blog post on my daily morning rituals, but know that doing any sort of a daily commitment around your intention is going to be so helpful.
  • Radiate positive vibes out to others by getting involved; volunteering or donating philanthropically to causes that are for the betterment of others (either with money or by donating items others need), sending out prayers, love and light to those in need or even participating in group ceremonies to raise the vibration of our planet or to send healing to others; doing these sorts of things to help others and do good in the world sends out ripples of positive vibes out into the universe, to the source energy field which in turn raises your own vibration. ♥
  • Pull in some therapies, some outside help, perhaps. Doing this can help you to further drill down into other layers to work on the issue from another angle. Examples of such therapies could be:

    • talk therapy/psychotherapy
    • an astrological reading so you can understand what sort of energies will be presenting themselves to you so that you can benefit most from them in the upcoming months. A solar return reading can be good for this sort of cosmic forecasting. I get mine done by TheMoonMother, a trusted teacher/mentor of mine.
    • some hypnosis focused on working through any possible fears
    • Journal it out. Journaling can be great therapy and here’s a great article that explains how that can look.
    • focused energetic therapies to tap into various vibrational frequencies; there are so many different types (Acupuncture, Reiki, Crystal Healing). Let your therapist know what you’re specifically looking to work on. Communicate with them. If you can’t afford to pay a professional to do these things, you can do some energetic work on yourself. I used to do this by myself all the time… and still do!
  • Amp Up those Vibrational Frequencies
Of course, me being me… I really want to expand a bit more on that last bullet point for pulling in other therapies; specifically focusing on certain vibrational frequencies you can work with here:

    • Moon/Solar Cycles

You can choose to set the intention to clear your energetic filed and plant “brand new seeds” at the new moon.

Then at the full moon, it’s time to let go of any resentments that you might be holding onto, any grudges you may have because the full moon is a time for forgiveness. It’s also a time to focus on being grateful for all the things that you have been able to manifest within that last 28-day cycle. Also, remember to give thanks for the work that you ARE doing (Hey! See that? you’re actually “doing the work”!) and the awareness that you’ve brought to whatever these unresolved issues within your energy field are… to get them brought up to the surface and cleared out so that they don’t continue to fester and manifest themselves in your different life areas.

You can do this again and again. Every 28 days is a completely new cycle.

    • Chakra Balancing

You can look to chakra balancing, allowing you to focus in on the seven main energy centers within your energetic body.

Depending on what the issue is that keeps coming up for you, the chakras allow us to focus in more closely on certain areas, and then you can focus your attention without ignoring the other chakras. For instance, if I know I have certain issues that have to do with the heart chakra, I’ll do some specific energetic work on myself focusing on that area (this may include using essential oils, crystals and light therapy directly on that chakra in a session).

For example, you can focus your attention more closely on certain anxieties. Then you could choose to focus more closely on your root chakra and some intentional, deeper work there.

    • Crystal Work

Then you might try working with certain crystals to do some fine-tuning on specific issues by simply keeping them in your environment, close-by, meditating with them or by wearing them. This will allow you to laser focus on certain things that need to be resolved so that they don’t manifest themselves in your mental, emotional, physical life or body.

I’ve barely scratched the surface here.

There are many more things you can do and of course, you can get much deeper with each step that I’ve listed above.

I just wanted to open up that term “do the work” a bit and help demystify and clarify it with specific steps we can take towards doing that.

So, are you ready to do the work?  Are you willing to heal yourself and continue to clear through any issues that surface?  We all need to. I feel that’s what we’re all here on Mama Earth School to do. It’s like a video game simulation thing that we’ve come here to play and we keep playing and ascending levels until we’ve mastered the game. Hey! even famous astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson reasons this may be the case. Then once we’ve mastered all the levels, we head off into the unknown, fantastical, mystical wonder. Who knows!? Right?

If you feel inspired to share your experience or tools that have helped you “do the work”, please post in the comments below so we can all share the experiences together.

Do Others Think You’re Woo-Woo Weird? 3 Steps to Own Your Sparkly Shit!

Hibiscus Moon Crystal Healer, Crystal Healing, Everyday/Personal Stuffs, life's purpose 27 Comments

Are you uncomfy coming out of the “crystal closet“?

Afraid others will think you’re weird, not get you or think that you’re just totally out to lunch?
“What is all this sage burning, crystal collecting, essential oil rubbing wacko-ness?”

I get it. It’s hard when everyone around you is not doing the same thing.

And they don’t really get it.
    Story Time!
This 1 time I went to the doctor’s office & had my doc probing around with her stethoscope to check my heartbeat and had to explain to her what those hard lumps were protruding from my bra. She had a complete & total poker face while I told her that “those were my crystal companions for the day’s energies that I wanted to infuse into my electromagnetic field”.

She didn’t say another word about it & went on to the next thing.

THAT was uncomfy even for me (**I’m not going to pretend that “Oh, I’m so confident, I don’t have a problem telling ANYONE about my crystals“. Just being real with ya here), but I just put it out there anyway. **I have no idea what she made of it, but I’m hysterical laughing right now thinking about it again & typing this out!**

I even find it difficult to just explain why I don’t like to use a microwave or the regular laundry detergent that everyone else is using. That is, unless I know someone really well & don’t mind lovingly antagonizing them (like my parents). It’s also so much easier to discuss with someone who is obviously receptive & wanting to learn. But when they’re not receptive…well…having to explain yourself in these situations ain’t my idea of a good time. It’s usually met with resistance or a tinge of ridicule.

    Am I right?
    1. Confidence through Science
I do have a healthy amount of confidence around discussing what I do when I’m directly asked or it’s unavoidable. And I know that’s b/c I can explain the science behind how & why the crystals work.

And this is what I teach to students in my courses as well.

    2. Make Peace with Who You Are
A while back I wrote a blog post about being me, the real me.

Oh, I felt quite un-easy writing that at the time.

But contrary to what I thought, the real me was welcomed with open arms. That blog post went viral and as you can see from how many comments I got on it, struck a very real chord with the Crystal Hottie Community. 🙂

So my advice now is just own it!

And guess what? You’d be surprised how many people come out of the woo-woo closet themselves when they know its safe to talk about this shizzle with you!

I had lots of experience with this while I was still a science teacher.

You would think those in the academic community would be very closed off to this sort of thing, but when it was last resort time on many situations, many in that community (even a school police resource officer) came to me to ask what crystals & other energetic work they could do to remedy their problem.
    3. Find a Community
Being in a group of other like-minded people who are also cuckoo-for-crystals can be so empowering & nourishing b/c they’re all going through the same stuff as you. We need each other b/c being part of a community also gives us confidence & strength!

Yeah, this may also mean that you need to spend less time (or remove yourself completely) from hanging with people who are holding you back & won’t accept who you are.

Try to find a group either in person or online that have these 3 things going for them (b/c not all groups do!):

    • members are supportive
    • offers motivation & inspiration
    • holds a positive vibe (no gossiping, negativity is frowned on & moderated, etc.)

Finding a group like this does WONDERS for allowing you to be YOU and encouraging you to grow into your full potential. It can be an in-person group or even a virtual online one.

I can help you with #1 & #3 from above. And I’ve seen #2 come naturally as a result of providing #1 & #3 to my students in my Certified Crystal Healer Course.

Not to say you cannot achieve those things on your own. You most certainly can! All you have to do is put your mind & energy towards it.

But if you’d like me to help along on this path, my course will be opening up for enrollment very soon & this will be the last enrollment for 2016. Enrollment will only be open for a few days so if you’d like to take a look, check it out here.

Are you ready to fling those doors open, Crystal Hottie?  Maybe you already have and you’re merrily cruising along the glitter highway.  Or, maybe you’ve been looking for a tribe like ours? A Crystal Community to sparkle, shine, transform & grow with?  Where do you stand right now?  Tell us in the comments below.

    Crystal Blessings,
