3 Tips for Shaking off Crystal Critics and Boosting Your Confidence

Hibiscus Moon Crystal Healer 35 Comments

Today we’re talking about three tips for shaking off crystal critics and boosting your confidence.

Question of the day:
Do you feel that you are crystal confident?
As in,  I got this, I can talk to anybody about this. Just say yes or no in the comments below.

Now if you’d like to sign up for my free Sacred Space With Crystals eKit here’s a quick and easy sign up for you!

Three Tips for Shaking off Crystal Critics

So let’s go ahead and start talking about my three tips here today.
 1. Defending your Passion for Crystal Healing
Do you ever feel like sometimes you need to defend your passion for crystals and just your general interest in crystal healing powers against people who try to belittle it or when there’s a lot of skeptics around?

Perhaps you’ve all seen this by now, but there was a recent comedy skit that came out and it went viral on Facebook with the metaphysical online community and beyond.

The skit made me think about this topic again. It’s about a woman who walks into a crystal shop and she’s talking to the crystal shop owner. And the shop owner’s displaying all the stereotypical behaviors and catchphrases and quirks and the person who comes in is like, “Oh my God, this is wacko.”

I think it’s hysterical.

However, if you’re sensitive about that sort of thing or might take offense to it, then it might not be your cup of tea. But I think it was quite a laugh. Because we need to be able to laugh at ourselves, right? I mean this person was way over the top with the metaphysical stuff and you know very judgey of the person who came in.
Humor yes, but also Fuel for the Fire?
But you know this sort of comedy can also really feed the skeptics.  If you’re a hardcore skeptic you might see this and say “That’s what I’m talking about right there. That’s what you’re into, you wacko.”

That adds more fuel to their fire. It kind of gives us that are into crystal healing a bad rap overall as a group, especially if you don’t know how to see the humor in it.  And it can be hard if you don’t know how to defend why you love crystals along with how and why they work so well for many of us.

Because that’s why we’re all attracted to them because we know inherently that they do work.

When you’re able to defend it against people who belittle, or make fun of it, you’re better able to laugh at that, and you feel more confident about the whole thing in general.

So maybe it’s chicken or the egg kind of thing or maybe that’s why I can laugh at it. Then there are many people who do not care what others think at all, and that is wonderful, that’s it, doesn’t affect them, at all. I love that.

However many of us are affected by what others think of us. I’ve got a very good reason why that is, it’s actually hardwired into our brains. It’s an instinctual thing. I’ll explain more in a bit on that.
The bottom line is that we fear others aren’t going to take us seriously.
Are you Hearing this?
That’s a big fear and there’s a good reason for that fear.  Whether you have this fear or not, you may be hearing things like:

  • What is all this crap?
  • How much money did you spend on all these rocks?
  • None of this stuff works, when are you going to learn?
  • Why are you so gullible?

Sound familiar?

Or do you have new ones that you’ve recently heard that you’d like to share in the comments below (I like to hear this stuff from you so share with me!)

Does it make you question your crystal fascination?

Does it kind of shake your crystal confidence?

And if it does, I totally get it, because, I’ve been there, I’ve heard it all.
Reptile Brain
I’ve told this story before, but I’m going to tell it here because it makes sense with this whole topic:

One time I went to the doctor’s office and the doc was using the stethoscope and probing around and checking, looking for my heartbeat and I forgot to take the rocks out of my bra. I’d have rocks in my bra, I know I’m not alone. And I forgot to take them out.

She had a complete and total poker face while I told her that,
“Oh, those are my crystal companions for the day’s energies that I wanted to infuse into my electromagnetic field.”
And she was just, mm-hm, you know, went on to the next thing.

Did I sense negative judgment or was that only my perception?  I don’t know but it triggered my ancient reptile brain.

So let’s take a quick detour. The pink area in this diagram shows the basal ganglia and its related systems in your brain. (AKA: the reptile brain.)

We call it the reptile brain because this basal ganglia is the extent of what a lizard has for brain function.

Lizards, snakes, the reptile brain, if you’ve ever had a reptile or worked with reptiles, I did quite a bit, they’re very simple, emotionless beings. And the reptile brain is called that because their brain is in charge of just six things. We call them the six Fs. Fight, flight, food or feeding, fear, freezing up, and fornication. You thought I was gonna say something else, didn’t you? 😉

So these are the basic things, it’s really root chakra stuff right, basic things.  But the limbic system is much more powerful than we give it credit for. Yeah, it’s basic stuff but it’s supremely powerful because it goes the furthest back. It’s the part of our brain that has the most ancestral lineage going all the way back.

Back to the story with the doctor, that was uncomfy for me at the time, (yeah, even for me), my reptile brain was alive and well. And I’m not saying it’s eradicated all together now, but alive and well back then and I even find it difficult today to explain why I don’t like to talk on a cell phone.
Resistance and Negative Energy
If someone asks me, “Exactly why don’t you like talking on the cell phone, don’t like to use it so much, or have it around you all the time”, I will get into all the nitty-gritty and the science and all of it. But if no one’s asking, I don’t want to come off as preachy.

Now, if you asked about it, or you’re reading my blog that means you’re here for it, you asked for it, you’re gonna get it. It’s so much easier to discuss our crystal passions with someone who obviously is receptive and wants to learn about it.

But when they’re not receptive to it, or you have a feeling that they’re not receptive to it, how you explain yourself in those situations is not exactly our idea of a good time… because again, it’s hardwired into us, it’s usually met with resistance or a tinge of ridicule and that’s perceived as negative energy by our reptile brain.
Realize it or not, we instinctively try to avoid those situations at all costs.
So it’s not weird and you’re not considered, like “oh my gosh, you’re so not awake.” if you’re thinking, you have no confidence around this stuff.

Tip number one is to ignore your reptile brain.

Something really unconscious like certain scents can activate certain parts of your brain and spark an intense emotion. And our conscious mind isn’t aware and doesn’t process right away why that is. That’s our reptile brain taking over when that happens.

We have a primal-fear response to anything that’s perceived as disapproval.  Our ancient reptilian is hardwired in auto-response to avoid any negative judgment being made on us.  We want to avoid getting kicked out of the tribe so to speak. Being shunned by the clan, that’s basic root chakra stuff coming up.

Yes, we can learn to move past this and rise above it but it takes consistent work.

As a side note, I’ve found that once we get past the hardwired fear and ancient auto response we can show the courage to just be who we are and defend our stance.  The real me is often welcomed with open arms by people you would never expect to welcome it.
My advice is just own it.
Understand and realize it’s reptile-brain stuff and just own it.

Once people know it’s safe to talk to you about crystals you’ll be surprised how many people come out of the woo-woo closet themselves.  I had lots of experience with this while I was still a science teacher working in the public school system.

For those of you that don’t know, I used to be a science department chair for 13 years. I have lots of experience with that.

Perhaps you think that people in the academic community would be very closed off to this sort of thing but when it’s last-resort time, many would come to me to ask what crystal work they could do to remedy their issue.
2.  Find a Solid Community
This is important. Now some of you are loners and maybe you’re like, “I don’t need no community.” and that’s fine. But even for us loners, of which I am one, once in a while it’s nice to have that solid community along with you, along for the ride.

We all want to feel like we belong to the tribe, right?  We just discussed that, so that no one feels vulnerable and like nobody’s on their side.

Being in a group of other like-minded people who are also nuts for the crystals can be so empowering and supportive because they’ve all going through the same stuff as you and you get to pool resources and information and join forces with them and collaborate on stuff.

We need each other because being part of a community also gives us confidence and strength in our beliefs.

This may also mean that you may need to spend less time or remove yourself completely from hanging out with people who are holding you back and won’t accept who you are.

Besides the truly infinite and immeasurable value of having a community is the fact that you get that built-in motivation, built-in inspiration, and accountability partners when you need them. Without that support system in place, you’re going it alone.

It’s hard to go it alone even if you are a seasoned loner, 100% alone. Just to let you know, in my Certified Crystal Healer Course, in addition to your peers and the alumni, you also get reliable mentors I’ve put in place to coach you through. And that’s absent when you go it alone.

Not to mention you can build fabulous, amazing new friendships that spring up from a community like that. It certainly doesn’t have to be my course’s group, there are many out there. On Facebook alone, there are face-to-face live groups you can join.
Join a Group
Be mindful.  Don’t go out and join a bunch of different groups at once. This will spread you too thin and you won’t be able to get the most out of any of the groups. Try to find a group, either in person or online, that has these three things going for them.

Here’s what to look for:

  • You want mentors who are supportive.
  • You also want members who are supportive, I’m sure you know how to figure out if they’re supportive or not. The group should offer motivation and inspiration.
  • The group holds positive vibes. They take this seriously with an active moderator.  Zero tolerance for gossip or negativity.
  • As I said, it can be an in-person group that meets regularly or a virtual online one.  You can even make one up on your own, but there’s a lot of them out there already. Finding a group like this does wonders for allowing you to be you; encouraging you to grow to your full potential.

Additionally, it builds crystal confidence; working with your crystals and knowing you have this like-minded, high vibe tribe, who has your back.

Of course, we make sure that my group has all that and more in spades.
    3.   Back it up with Science
I have a healthy amount of confidence in discussing crystal healing.  I know that’s because I can explain the science behind how and why the crystals work.

And it’s not just for me, I’ve heard this again and again from our over 1,600 graduates now. That this is where their confidence comes from.

Still, science isn’t always the end-all, be-all.  Science doesn’t prove everything or anything but that’s another topic of debate we can get into. 🙂 Despite what some might think there always remains some uncertainty. Science never, 100%, proves anything.

So no, not everything should need a scientific explanation. Nor does everything have one, there are so many things that don’t have scientific explanations and yet they exist. Crystal healing is one of them.

But like it or not, in today’s world, in our society, science is king. Scientific explanations hold mega value.

Being able to explain something scientifically pulls a lot of weight, that’s why people love to get some science in with their metaphysics. I know, I know, this is exactly why my Certified Crystal Healer Course became so popular right away because there were no other courses doing that and so many people came in and it was like,
“Oh my gosh, science with the crystal healing, this is exactly what I need!”
Because again, being a former science teacher and science department head, I can provide that in spades.

Science is the backbone of my course.

When it comes to explaining crystal healing to others, especially if they’re skeptics, we just throw some science at it, and that usually gets them to sit up and listen. It opens the door for a skeptic with respect, a respectful door.
    Need Help?
I can help you with tips number two and three. Plus I’ve seen number one, which is “ignore your reptile brain”, come naturally, as a result of providing the science and solid community to my students in my course.

Not to say that you can’t achieve those things on your own without taking my course, you most certainly can. Put your mind to it, put your energy into it, and put your energy towards that goal and you’re going to manifest it.

But if you do want my help, and you want me to help you along on this path as your teacher, registration for my course is open to the public now.

If you’re thinking about it, get in now, because tuition is going to be increasing, because we have to do it, by $500 for our fall term. So if you’re thinking about waiting for it down the line, now is your time and registration’s only open for a short time.

If you’re not on the waitlist and you’d like to get on right now go to hibiscusmoonjoin.com.

I want to wrap this up by giving you two of my favorite quotes to think on all this stuff.

And this is a quote by Arthur Schopenhauer. He’s a German philosopher and he said:
All truth passes through three stages: First, it’s ridiculed. Second, it’s violently opposed. Third is accepted as being self-evident.
And isn’t that true? Isn’t that how all new truths come to be?

One more brilliant quote from my favorite physicist, Nassim Haramein, he said:
We are still in our infancy of exploring and discovering our local environment.

There are people alive today who when they were young were told the universe was many, many times smaller than they’re being told today.

Perhaps this progression will only accelerate when we prove the universe we are in, is only one of an infinite number of other universes in the holo-fractile graphic multiverse.
He’s so deep, I love that guy.

I find getting defensive and negative (as we tend to do because of our reptile brain),  gets us nowhere.  So let’s forget that reaction. Same with clamming up from lack of confidence. It actually feeds the skeptics.

If we want people to hear us, the music needs to be pleasing, right? Otherwise, they’re going to slam the door and leave. But I also really secretly love it when you can just smack them skeptics around with some science.  I absolutely love it. It’s just a little thing that naturally happens, it’s kind of funny, but done respectfully always, so let’s keep it like that.

Now, tell me in the comments how can you action one of these three tips TODAY?

Top Five Simple Ways to Use Your Crystals Every Day

Hibiscus Moon Crystal Healing, Everyday/Personal Stuffs 15 Comments

Ancient peoples truly appreciated and put to good use the extraordinary healing properties of crystals. We can learn so much from them and apply their wisdom to our modern lives to inspire us to work with crystals every day.

Unfortunately, us mod-humans, have mostly pushed aside or just forgotten all about our effective ancient stone and mineral know-how.

The good news is that recently we’ve experienced quite the Rock Revival. Am I right? A total resurgence and re-interest in the energetic healing powers of crystals and stones. (I feel we’re simply REMEMBERING what worked well for us without the nasty side-effects of other possible “remedies.”)

Sneak Peek: One of my recommendations is daily crystal meditation. For a simple meditation, grab this free throat chakra meditation mp3 and drop into some quality time with you, your rocks and your breath.
First Some Interesting Crystal Healing History
Humans have used crystals for millennia for various healing and protective purposes.

We now have evidence regarding the earliest hominids that were working with crystal energy as early as about 40,000 years ago.

This is specific evidence of ancient human remains buried with jade-looking (chlorite) jewelry. Anthropologists gather that it was used for either healing or some sort of protection, like a talisman of some sort. So far, this is the earliest evidence of crystal healing to date.

Ancient civilizations have also been documenting the use of working with stones or laying on of stones; where they were placing them on the body for different modes of healing, protection and connecting with Mama Earth. We even have evidence of this documented in the Bible.

[caption id="attachment_21894" align="aligncenter" width="864"] Bottom Left: Lapis lazuli used in Scarab Pectoral, from the Tomb of Tutankhamun, in the Valley of the Kings at Thebes, Ancient Egypt, c. 1361-52 BC. Right: Lapis lazuli used in “Ram in a Thicket”, from the Royal Tombs of Ur, Sumer, Ancient Mesopotamia, modern-day Iraq, c. 2600-2500 B.C.[/caption]

Yes, metaphysical powers of crystals were no mystery to most of our ancient cultures including:

    • Egyptians
    • Native North Americans
    • Chinese
    • Indians
    • South Americans
    • Australian Aborigines
    • Sumerians

… and many, many others regularly adorned their bodies with gemstone jewelry and embellished their buildings, carvings, statues, etc. with sacred stones. This was the norm, not the exception. The ancients had many ways of working with crystals every day.

    Crystal Info Dissemination
Civilizations have worked with stones and have experimented with them for thousands of years, honing and perfecting this information and techniques.

When the anthropologists sit down to study various cultures and ask them, “Where does this information come from?”, it’s repeatedly revealed that it’s been passed down from generation to generation to generation.

They’ll often say, “It was passed on by others.” Now, who are the others? That’s left up to interpretation. You can take that deeper wherever you’d like to go, but that’s beyond the scope of this blog post. 😉

Most of our crystal books and their stone correspondences are based on this passed down data.

    Not all of them…

Some contain info that’s been channeled or personally researched by the author, but the majority have a strong foundation largely based on this ancient information.

And it’s great to KNOW all this crystal stuff, but keep in mind…

Knowledge is useless unless it’s applied. Right?

And I don’t know about you, but for me to CONSISTENTLY apply something, it had better not take up much of my time or brain power, plus it has to work itself easily into my everyday routines. Otherwise, it just becomes some beautifully complicated ceremony that I did that one time and never had time to do again.

Now that may work for some stuff but for most of the things that we want to apply crystals to; it generally works out best if we work with them often and consistently; making them part of our everyday routines.

So, how do we do that? – actually put them to practical everyday use?

Well, I can tell you what I do…

My five favorite ways to work with my crystals every day:
    1. Crystal Grid
Crystal grids are like a manifestation-amplifier for any area of your life — money, health, relationships, happiness. On any given day, I’ll have at least one (but usually two) crystal grids set up somewhere in my home to manifest a certain intention I’m working on. There’s always something I could be working on!

I have a recent blog post over here with specifics on getting you started with a crystal grid.
    2. Gem Elixir
Basically, a gem elixir is crystal water. When made with the intention of drinking it, I’m always mindful of toxicity levels of any of the stones that I use. I also consider the Mohs Hardness or rusting probability (iron content) when I’m concerned about preserving the stone’s integrity and beauty.

Gem elixirs are water entrained with specific crystal healing vibrations… because subtle energies can be charged and stored in water quite efficiently. Here are two different blog posts where I give you an example of how I work gem elixirs into my everyday routines: Hibiscus Iced Tea for Immune Boosting and Magical Mermaid Crystal Tea. But, listen… most days I just take a safe tumbled stone and plop it into my drinking water.
    3. Crystal Meditation
This is something I strive to work into every day. Some days it just doesn’t happen. However, I’ve found that if I do it in the morning, that seems to work best. I usually end up getting my meditation in about four days a week.

And this is the one activity in this list… that if I had to choose just one, I would not do without this one. I find it to be the most transformative for my everyday psyche and mindset.

Before meditation, I simply choose a stone to work with. It’s usually the same stone that I’ll work with for at least a week, if not longer. Then I’ll rest it in my left (receiving energy) hand or if it feels uncomfy that day I’ll rest it in front of me on my meditation cushion while having it touch some part of my body and allow it to influence my vibratory field for what’s usually a ten-minute meditation. Most people have a Rose Quartz. Or an Amethyst. Grab one and give it a go.
    4. Chakra Balancing
This is an active and highly effective technique that can really effect change with recalibrating your major energy centers in your body. If you’re new to chakras entirely, I suggest you start with part 1 in my chakra blog post series here.

This is the art of laying on of stones.  There are many steps and nuances to it that I teach my students in my Certified Crystal Healing Course, but to do a very simple chakra balancing session, you’re taking seven crystals whose colors correspond to each chakra and lay them over each chakra leaving them in place for about 15 minutes.
    5. Crystal Jewelry
Now, in contrast to chakra balancing, stone jewelry is a very passive approach you can take with your crystal healing. You can simply find jewelry that incorporates the stones you’d most like to work with and wear them, allowing their energy field to entrain with and influence your own. That’s it! Does it get any easier than that?

Now there are many more ways to work with our crystals, right? These are just my personal methods that have fallen effortlessly into my almost-daily routines. I would love you to share your top methods with our Crystal Family! What are your favorite ways to work with crystals every day? Please tell me in the comments below.

    Crystal Blessings,

Why Your Crystals 🔮 May Not Be Working 🤔

Hibiscus Moon Crystal Healing 23 Comments

One thing I’d like to clarify before we dive into anything else is that we should not rely on crystals (ALL ON THEIR OWN) for a specific cure. People often come to me with a medical diagnosis they’ve received, and they want to know which crystal is good for healing/curing that particular medical issue. When it comes to a medical diagnosis, crystals are fantastic for supporting a sound holistic health plan overseen by a medical professional

Also, when I say “holistic,” to most people, that means taking into account all the different aspects that come into play with healing. Physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually.  Not just your body but your mind and your spirit as well, so you’re not just addressing the physical symptoms. I believe when it comes to healing this is how everyone should approach the process and that includes medical professionals.

Crystals are PART of a sound holistic health plan
Crystals allow us to tap into the vibrational frequencies or healing frequencies that we might be seeking more efficiently. Not to say that you can’t accomplish this without crystals, it most certainly can be done. However, crystals are here to assist us as a tool, allowing us to do the required work using less energy. In the world of physics, the definition of a tool is something that allows you to do the work using less energy.

For example, If you have a lawnmower, that’s a tool that will enable you to cut the grass using a lot less energy than going out there with a pair of scissors and cutting each blade of grass individually. So yes, as part of sound holistic healing practice, crystals can be a huge help. However, it could also be that your approach to working with the crystal is what’s blocking your desired outcome.
The Science Supporting The Metaphysical 🔬
One thing I always strive to do here on this blog is connected metaphysics with the science that supports it. So allow me to dive into the double-slit experiment that took place over 100 years ago. This experiment showed us that light and matter display characteristics of being both waves and particles, but more importantly, it taught us the nature of quantum mechanics.

This experiment also brought to light what would be known as “The Observer Effect” or the “Hawthorne Effect.” In essence, we learned that whatever the observer believed would happen was naturally going to impact the outcome. Meaning there is actual evidence to support the idea that our consciousness or our beliefs influence how our reality is shaped.

If you feel your crystal isn’t working It could mean it’s the wrong time for you to be working with that particular stone. So I would encourage you to try working with different crystal pieces of the same type. If it’s an amethyst, you’re working with experiment with other amethysts types

The crystal itself may also need to be vibrationally recalibrated. We all need to be unplugged some of the time, and the same can often happen with your crystal. It requires a re-tuning, and the easiest way to do so is through sound acoustics. The vibrations psychically travel through the object, yourself, and the crystal lattice recalibrating the dominant oscillatory rate of the crystal.

Also, remember that it’s always possible for a specific crystal to never be a proper vibrational match for you. If find that’s the case consider regifting it back to the earth or even regifting it to someone else.
Three things you can do to get your crystal working again
#1 – Ease into working with the stone

I see people try and force a specific stone into their life all the time. They pick up something new and want to dive into it immediately. I would recommend taking a slower approach when it comes to incorporating this specific stone into your life.

    • Rather than wearing it all day as a piece of jewelry try meditating with the stone for 4-5 minutes instead.
    • In addition to meditation, you could also consider keeping it with you when you sleep. Try putting it in your pillowcase, so it’s safe, and it doesn’t roll off the bed and then if you’re sleeping with it then you’re with it for about half the day instead of an entire day.
    • Finally, try working with the stone every other day instead of every day.

    #2 – Anoint the stone

Something else to consider before wearing the stone is anointing it. Most likely through a small ceremony or even a little prayer. This creates a vibrational bond between you and the crystal. Creating that bond allows you to make the stone yours. I would also recommend anointing your stone after you’ve already completed step one. Do this little ritual with a little bit of essential oil on the tip of your finger and just put it on the stone, and maybe say a little prayer or a little affirmation in how you would like to work with the crystal.

Perhaps you can take it into your sacred space. If you need ideas on creating a sacred space, I have a free eKit on creating a sacred space you can check out which includes a meditation mp3.

Start by taking a tiny little drop of essential oil and putting it on the crystal. If you prefer something like Florida Water or holy water that’s acceptable too. Before doing so, however, I would check the stone’s Mohs hardness. We want to make sure that the stone has a Mohs hardness of five or higher. Otherwise, water can slightly damage the crystal if you’re not careful. I like to be overly cautious in this area. Finally, rub the oil on the stone while stating a favorite prayer or an affirmation. You can also leave it in your sacred space for seven days or so. This process can help create a very strong bond between you and that crystal.

    #3 – Retune your crystal

The third thing you can do is retune your crystal. Here we would use something like a crystal singing bowl or even a tuning fork. You can also place your stone in front of a speaker and turn the music up loud.  What this does is create sound acoustics with a high amplitude, and that high amplitude is going to trump the oscillatory frequency of the crystal. It will recalibrate it down to the crystal lattice, or down to the molecules.

I hope you try these three steps you can take to get your crystal working again! If nothing on this list works for you, it might be that your time with this particular stone is up. WHICH IS OK I PROMISE! If it truly is time to part with your crystal then consider gifting it to someone else or even regifting it back to Mama Earth.

Let me know in the comments if you’ve used any of these steps to reconnect with your crystals! I’d also love to hear if you have a specific stone that doesn’t work for you? Or maybe a one that you feel has never worked for you?

    Crystal Blessings,
