3 Things You Want to Know Before You Start Working with Crystals

Hibiscus Moon Crystal Goodness, energy work 10 Comments

Are you new to working with crystals?

I’m going to share three things you want to know before you start working with crystals.

Because you want to avoid pitfalls, right? When you get started on this crystal path, you want to avoid wasting time and energy.  Why reinvent the wheel? I made a lot of mistakes when first starting out with crystals. I’ve worked through a lot of stuff and I can save you a lot of time and energy in that area, and save money which is a big one with these three things.

Now, of course, there are so many more than three things, but I just wanted to distill it down to three for you.
Are you Ready to Start Working with Crystals?
Tip Number One
Cleansing your crystals:   I’m not talking about physically cleansing today, although I do love my science and I love talking about physically cleansing crystals (depending on their Mohs hardness, there are different ways we need to treat our crystals). Today, I’m talking about energetic cleansing.

After much trial and error, I learned that there are many people who will go on and on about different methods of cleansing. And it’s really up to you in the end.  You have to choose the method that resonates with you most.

I’ve tried out all sorts of techniques like; putting them in a bowl of brown rice, put the crystals and cover them with Himalayan sea salt, put them underground, put them in water for seven days, put them in salt water for seven days, put them in the sun, put them under the moon, sage smudge them. There are so many different ways.

But after lots of trial and error, I realized sometimes we need to be mindful…

  • extra mindful, of extreme temperature changes because that can be harmful to our crystals.
  • mindful of fading certain crystals in sunlight. Some of them are very UV sensitive, so we need to be mindful of that.
  • mindful of water with crystals that have a low Mohs hardness. I’m not going to get into explaining all these little things, I have classes and other blog posts on that, so I’m trying to stay on track today.

Acoustic Vibrational Frequency
What I found is that the most practical way, while still being highly effective is acoustic vibrational frequency. That is just a fancy scientific term for sound. My goal is practical and most effective, so the highest impact for the least amount of work always wins with me and this technique meets all the criteria.
What kind of sound?
It can be any kind of sound, actually, as long as it’s high amplitude.
You want the amplitude of energy to be higher than the crystal. And that’s a fancy term for loud. We just need it to be loud. It doesn’t need to be a certain frequency. It doesn’t need to be a certain tone.
My favorite method?   It’s a crystal singing bowl.  Just ring it gently.

I really like this method because it sends those sound waves out, and it penetrates in all directions. It really gets in there and it moves, and actually physically moves, the atoms around and gets them to lockstep back into place with their base resonant frequency, or what I call the dominant oscillatory rate of the crystal, back to where it naturally is, where it’s natural vibration is.

Another favorite method of mine is a tuning fork.

Then people always ask me …
“What frequency? What tone?”
It doesn’t matter. I know that they sell certain tuning forks specifically for cleansing your crystals, and they’ll have it set at a certain frequency. Yes, there are certain frequencies that entrain certain types of vibrational frequencies.

But if you’re just looking to cleanse your crystals, the frequency of the tuning fork (or whatever you’re using) doesn’t matter. Even if it’s just your radio and a loudspeaker, high amplitude is all that’s required.  It’s that simple.  Simple, practical, and highly effective.
Tip Number Two
Confusing Crystal Names:  How do you feel about all these confusing crystal names out there? Before you start working with crystals, this is one you want to pay attention to because money in your wallet is important.  I’m assuming. And you don’t want to lose that due to confusing crystal names. Now, how does that even work? There’s a lot of confusion with the naming of crystals or the terminology, the nomenclature of our minerals.

There are trademark names.

There are marketing terms.

There are what I call woo-woo synonyms.
What are woo-woo synonyms?
They’re just names that are more appealing to us, the metaphysical market. I mean, admittedly, those woo names are really appealing, and they fetch more money. I’ve done experiments with this. I’ve taken you with me on my trips to the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show and other gem and mineral shows.

I’ve shown you, in real-time; you’ve got the same mineral, you’ve got the proper geological term that everybody knows it by, it’s not confusing, and then you’ve got someone calling the same thing by some woo-woo name, and it’s marked up, exponentially marked up. They shell it out because it’s got this fancy name on it for minerals that already have a proper geological name.
Examples
I could go on and on with all the different examples. I’ll just give you a few here…

  • Azeztulite:  Which happens to be quartz masses from certain particular areas.  I’ll give them that. But if another geologist goes out and finds these quartz mass, usually, you know what they do? They grind them up, and they put them in landscape material, in different building materials, rock gardens, or they just sell them as a quartz mass. But if the right person gets a hold of it, they’ll call it azeztulite. And you have to be careful whose calling it is azeztulite because that’s a trademark term.
  • Healerite:   trademarked. What’s healerite? It’s basically a certain yellowish greenish tone of serpentine. It’s serpentine. Talk to anybody else, they’ve got the same thing for sale, and it’s going to be much cheaper because they’re calling it serpentine. Infinite is a different shade of serpentine than healerite.  So again, you call it serpentine and just sell it in different shades, and it’s going to be so much cheaper. If you know this, you’re going to save yourself a ton of money.
  • Super seven: trademarked. Super seven is a conglomeration of a cacoxenite and different minerals mixed together. But, that certain mixture has been trademarked and called super seven, but it’s been found in other places and not called super seven.
  • Zultanite:  is actually diaspore. That’s the proper geological name. You are not going to get as much money for it if you call it diaspore.

If you know of others,  put them in the comments below so other people can see them and we can learn from this.
Then there are straight up scams
This next one is just a straight up scam. I’m sorry if you feel differently about it, but I feel strongly that I need to put this information out there.

  • Andara crystals:   Have you heard of that? They’re said to be found only in northern California and South Africa, said to be high-vibrational, soul-enhancing crystals, and connected with the Lemurian or a Lemurian temple complex. Well, I did a little digging and research, and guys, I discovered they’re not a crystal, not at all. They’re just manmade glass, discarded glass. Maybe now some are making it on purpose for sale because now Andara crystals fetch so much money.

The original Andara crystal was originally found in a California dump because it’s slag glass. If you know what that is, that means it’s discarded glass from different manufacturing things. It’s the byproduct of glass manufacturing, and that’s it. Some people got together and thought it would be a great money-making scam. I’m going to straight up call it that, and giving it official certificates and things like that.

Do your own due diligence. Do your own research on that. Don’t just buy what someone’s telling you, hook, line, and sinker, because it sounds so wonderful. Do your due diligence.

Here’s a special gift for you to download my newly updated free Crystal Fakes Reference ebook.

[thrive_2step id='21832'][/thrive_2step]
Crystal Fakes
If you’ve gotten it before, I’ve updated it with new stuff. In this Guide, I’m talking about all types of crystal fakes, the more popular ones on the market and things to be watchful for. If you’re a crystal collector, you have a crystal collection or you’re out there buying crystals, you need to have this reference e-book.

Plus it’s free, so there’s no excuse not to have it. You need to have this so you can navigate the crystal shops, navigate your way on eBay, the gem shows.  To make sure you’re getting the real thing and getting what you paid for.
We don’t want to be scammed or duped by buying fakes, or buying something that we thought was one thing and it’s actually another thing. Or it’s the same thing and it’s just called something fancy and they’re asking us to pay three times as much for it. Instead, I want us to be informed.
I’m really, really passionate about that.
Tip Number Three
No woo-woo talk: Now, why would I tell somebody to go into the closet? That’s so uncool. That is so politically incorrect. Here’s the deal. When you go to a rock shop or gem show, if you’re in a metaphysical shop that’s different and you don’t need to abide by this rule at all, but if you’re at a rock shop or a gem show, zip the lip on the woo-woo talk.

Because I’m going to tell you, again, I’ve witnessed this firsthand for years, once you start working with crystals you’ll see.  The sellers are keen on this, especially at gem shows…I’ve mentioned it to you when I’ve walked around the gem shows. If they hear you or just kind of look at you, they look you up and down and they see that you’re a woo-woo type, like us.

I’m one.

We go there all dressed to the nines in all our stuff, and we look very airy-fairy, part of the woo-woo crowd, and we’re talking to the woo-woo speak, or even, gasp, asking for,
“Do you have a Lemurian Dow crystal, double-terminated Dow?”
These are metaphysical terms.

This is what I’m talking about with woo-woo talk. The second they hear that there’s the ka-ching sign or the ka-ching sound going off in their brain.  The seller’s, and they’re going ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching, or an S for “sucker”. They’re thinking, “I got a sucker on my hands.”
And the Prices Go Up …
Oh yes.  That crystal right there, they know what we’re talking about because they’ve studied up, even though they don’t believe (I’m not going to say this is for all sellers. There are sellers out there who are scrupulous who do believe in the metaphysical side of things. I even have a geology teacher who understands and believes in the metaphysical side of things).

I’m not saying that they all don’t believe in it, but there are sellers out there, and a lot of them, who don’t believe in it at all, but have made it their business to learn about this stuff because they understand it affects their bottom dollar.
Keep it Under Wraps
On the economy side of things, it’s all about supply and demand.   If they can supply the woo-woo community with what they’re looking for, they can ratchet up the price on that crystal.  Whereas if they’re selling to just a Joe Schmo rock hound over here, they’re not having that. They’re not paying the jacked up price. They’re going to pay the going price because they know the going price.

By the way, I give you some handy crystal shopping tips in this blog post over here.

The sellers assume, that the woo-woo community, the metaphysical community, our crystal family, doesn’t know the going price. For the most part, many of us in this community don’t. And we think, “Okay, that’s just the price you pay.”

Now, of course,  if we’re talking about a very rare crystal. If the mine has been closed. If there’s not very many of them. The price is going to be extremely high. For example, meteorites, very highly priced. It’s warranted. It makes sense. But when you’re selling me a crystal mass, you don’t even know where it’s from, and you’ve just learned that if you call this azeztulie you can sell it for $300 instead of $3.

Think about it this way … Superman didn’t walk around with his costume around the streets of the city, right? He kept the costume under wraps. For a reason. You’re going to keep your Superman or Superwoman costume under wraps so that you can get what you want at a fair price.

Does that save you money? Is this valuable information? I hope it is for you, please let me know in the comments below. And don’t forget to grab the free Crystal Fakes download

How to Cleanse Crystals | Simple Technique

Hibiscus Moon cleansing, Crystals 38 Comments

Today, I want to talk about how to energetically cleanse your crystals.

Not, physically clean them… because I did that over here a long while ago.

Now, I have a different take on that whole subject of cleansing your crystals.

**In fact, I have an older video/blog post about this but I decided it was high time to update it and give you my most up-to-date (& more condensed) info on this subject because so many people ask about this!**

So, let’s dive in!

How to Cleanse (Re-tune) Crystals
First of all, the whole idea of “cleansing” your crystals is one that I never resonated with.

When I first started learning about crystals, of course, I hit the books and a lot of people would talk about cleansing their crystals. And then especially when we took things online, I also remember seeing (way back in 2005 or something like that), a big movement towards everybody talking about crystals and cleansing.

Then YouTube came along and I recall seeing a lot of people talking about the topic again… and I was part of that crowd too, don’t get me wrong!

But it never really sat right with me because I was always wondering…
“If crystals can maintain their energetic stability so wellwhy do they need to be cleansed so often? Why are we using them as tools to help us if they are so vulnerable to energy themselves?”

Know what I mean?

In working with crystals more and more over the years, in researching and also working with our students; teaching and getting feedback from our alumni and even their clients, it became quite evident to me that the crystals did NOT need to be cleansed on an ongoing basis so much.

This all goes back to the very nature of crystal structure itself and a term that I call the dominant oscillary rate.
Vibration
Everything is vibration, baby.

Everything oscillates and has its own signature frequency.

We have a collection of various vibrational frequencies making up who we are as a physical body and as an energetic being as well. There’s a lot going on and as humans, we don’t have a lot of preciseness in how we’re built, especially if you look at our molecular makeup. Our vibrational frequencies are numerous and very random. We do have some liquid crystal going on but we’re not mostly made up of liquid crystal.

Whereas with an actual crystal…
(The whole definition of a crystal is that its molecules are built-in a very specific repeating geometric pattern; a precise lattice structure.)
there’s no randomness to a crystal.

There might be a glitch here and there but a crystal is made up of a precise repeating geometric pattern in the way that its molecules are arranged.

So because of that, it has a very stable vibration that it emits in an energetic bubble around itself. We call that bubble an energy torus.

At times, that oscillary rate or vibration can get knocked out of sync in a crystal by very specific high amplitude energetic events.  But it’s a rare event.Ours gets knocked out all the time very easily. It can

On the other hand,  our vibration gets knocked out all the time quite easily.

So, it has to be a very high amplitude with a lot of energy to knock the crystal out of its base vibrational frequency; some sort of very intense energy can do that. When that happens, the crystal will naturally realign itself back to its dominant oscillary rate, where it naturally wants to be, on its own, given some time.
Retuning
Now, if we want to facilitate that crystal getting back to its dominant oscillary rate more quickly, there’s something we can do:   I coined it retuning a number of years back b/c it does a better job explaining what’s actually happening. (You can liken this to “cleansing”.)

It’s basically like retuning an instrument, a guitar, a piano. I don’t call it “cleansing” because that has the connotation of the whole concept of doing it often, doing it on a frequent basis, like taking a bath and that’s not what I’m talking about here.

I get into tons more detail about this in my Certified Crystal Healing Course.  But just as an overview here, I’ll give you a really simple technique that you can easily do to retune your crystal when it’s necessary.

This DOES NOT need to be done all the time or if somebody simply touched your crystal, unless again, that person exposes your crystal to a really high amplitude; like high emotions; yelling, breaking things, manic behavior (could be negative or positive emotions): That sort of energy CAN knock that crystal out temporarily.

Once again, you can leave the crystal alone and it will gradually eventually go back to its “home-base” vibration on its own eventually. Perhaps after a few weeks or months.

Or you can facilitate this happening more quickly with my favorite and super-easy method…

Sound Acoustics
I like sound energy because it’s more practical and it’s much more effective from a scientific perspective.

Just use SOUND. Immerse your crystal(s) with loud sound – acoustic vibrations; a sound bath!

In my video, I’m using a tuning fork.

Sound effectively sends energy vibrations out into our environment that we can’t see, but we can hear and measure.

We’re constantly surrounded by vibrations of all different sorts that we’re not able to see or pick up with our other senses. We’re affected by them but we’re just not able to see them because they’re not visible light.

So those energy sound waves from the tuning fork went out into the environment, right? It affected me then it went through the crystal and agitated its vibration; jarred its dominant oscillary rate to snap back into alignment, back to its natural frequency.

This method is so flippin’ easy! You don’t:

  • have to do any kind of saltwater cleanse and worry about Mohs hardness or rusting, dissolving, etc.
  • need lug your whole crystal collection out into the moonlight; although I do really like that practice for the ceremonial effect and spiritual effect that it has on me. I really like it. But I don’t do it every single moon cycle.  I’m saying you don’t have to feel guilty if you skip it for six months.
  • have to worry about your crystals fading under intense sunlight
  • need to pick and move your entire colossal collection, just bring the sound source to them!

If you know your crystal needs it, sound is simply the easiest way.

By the way, you don’t have to use a tuning fork. It can be any loud sound/vibration. It can be music or any sound, but you want to turn it up LOUD so that the amplitude is HIGH. That means the energy is high.

You can also use something beautiful like a crystal singing bowl.

You can get the amplitude going really, really, high and you can actually FEEL the vibrations penetrating everything in the environment.

Now, people will often ask me:

  • What note should I use on the tuning fork?
  • What note should I use on the crystal bowl?

MY ANSWER: It doesn’t matter. 🙂
Because any sound is sound acoustic energy as long as its high amplitude… doesn’t matter what note or frequency it’s in.
You just want it to be high energy; i.e. LOUD, where you can feel it reverberating. It doesn’t have to be tearing down the house where you’d have your neighbors calling the police because your music is so loud 😉 but you want to just make sure that it’s penetrating the crystal lattice, jarring the vibrations/penetrating the crystal, and that will knock it back to its natural dominant oscillary rate.

Wondering how often to retune your crystals? I have an older pillar blog post over here all about that.

Check it out for yourself and give it a go.

I’d love to hear your take on this as well, so go ahead and post it in the comments below.  Have you used sound to retune your crystals? Or do you prefer another method?

Are there some crystals that never need cleansing?

Are there crystals that never need cleansing?

I LOVE this topic. It’s a good one. It keeps coming up b/c there are some popular crystal books that state that certain crystals just never need to be “cleansed” or re-tuned (my preferred word for it).

First, before we get into it…let me just say…if it works for you; keep on TRUCKIN’! Don’t let what I say here change your mind. See what your intuition tells you.

BUT…

I feel that all crystals need to be re-tuned from time to time.

I hear this “no cleansing thing” most often about:

  • selenite
  • kyanite
  • citrine

Again, I feel that there are no crystals or stones that do not require any cleansing.

[caption id="attachment_14956" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Hi, I’m Selenite. Do I never need to be cleansed?[/caption]

Here’s an old vid where I pondered this very question…
Do All Crystals Need to Be Cleansed?

I come at it from a physics point of view. What’s new?

Crystals have a very precise vibratory rate due to their precise molecular structure (that’s what makes a crystal a crystal). However just as an overplayed piano needs to be retuned from time to time, at some point the frequencies will probably need to be readjusted if they have been used frequently; just like any other crystal.

I also feel these vibratory frequencies do readjust themselves naturally on their own…given enough time.

[caption id="attachment_14957" align="aligncenter" width="570"] Blue Kyanite[/caption]

I also got into this topic here…
How Do You Know When to Cleanse Your Crystals?

I’m just saying…there’s nothing molecularly different about selenite or the others that would not allow their energies to entrain with other energies at some point & need their dominant oscillary rates slightly readjusted.

[caption id="attachment_10504" align="aligncenter" width="600"] This is a natural citrine with a classic point shape and light tea color.[/caption]

So. Why would these specific crystals (selenite, kyanite or citrine) be any different from any other crystal? There is nothing drastically molecularly different about them that sets them apart.

Some say its b/c certain crystals have the power to transmute negative energy. OK. It’s well-accepted that Black Tourmaline does the best job at this, yet no one ever says it doesn’t need to be “cleansed”.

Why not?

Citrine is quartz with some iron & heating. So is amethyst. Yet, people don’t say the no-cleansing thing about amethyst. Again…why not? What makes citrine so special that it would never need to be cleansed?

To my knowledge this “no cleansing thing” did not come from the ancient teachings. I believe it’s a relatively new phenom. So it’s one of those things that makes you go “Hmmmm.”

I’m just opening this up for discussion. So please join in below! Tell us your thoughts on this so we can all share in the crystalline knowledge.

Which Chakra needs Balancing, Part 2 of our Chakra Series

Hibiscus Moon chakras, cleansing, energy work 10 Comments

This is Part 2 of a 3-part series on Crystal Chakra Healing:

  • Part 1 – The Science Behind Crystal Chakra Healing
  • Part 2[You Are Here] Which Chakra Needs Balancing??
  • Part 3 – How To Balance Chakras Using Crystals, Step by Step

So after learning about the science behind the chakras, you’re next question may be:

How do I know which chakra needs balancing?

Well, there are several ways. 🙂

There are actually 4 main ways that I teach about…
1. Take a chakra test
There are several different ones online. You can do an a search & turn up many! And they’re quite reliable. Here are a few you can try out right now:

  • chakra test 1
  • chakra test 2
  • chakra test 3

2.  Glaring, physical or emotional issues
Here are some simple examples…

Like I mentioned in part 1, feeling anxious tells us there’s an issue with the root chakra.

If somebody has their creativity totally shut down that’s all about the sacral chakra.

If somebody has a very low self-esteem that’s solar plexus chakra energy.

Issues with love, expressing love, showing love, being very clingy in their romantic relationships or any kind of relationships; that would be heart chakra issues.

Not being able to express themselves or not being a good listener, that’s throat chakra stuffs.

Not being open to your intuition or your spirituality, closing that down…that’s third eye shcist, Jelly Bean.

Not having a good connection to source energy, being fearful with death that would be crown chakra.
3. Energy sensing
In my Certified Crystal Healer Course, I teach various ways you can learn & use to sense energy. And by doing this  type of sensing, you can determine if a chakra is overactive, underactive, needs some slight re-tuning or is in balance.

*Wish those energy-sensing methods were something I could include in a blog post but it’s a bit involved, requires lots of background knowledge & some demonstrations, precautions + practice time.

[caption id="attachment_2848" align="aligncenter" width="512"] I brought my clear quartz pendant to Sedona & we used it to sense the energy of chakras while we meditated at the vortexes!!! This is a friend of ours checking on Frank’s crown chakra. :)[/caption]
4. Tap into your intuition
This means you get an inner knowing from various senses & picking up messages & measurements regarding the chakra energies.  There are various ways to get an inner sense of the energy of each chakra. Some people have the gift of different types of clair-senses:

Here’s a quick list (some of these can fit into each other & some say there are even more than these):

  • Clairaudience – receive messages in the form of an audio; sound, speaking, vocalizations
  • Clairempathy – receive messages in the form of feelings
  • Clairsentience – an inner knowing that comes from within
  • Clairvoyance – receive messages in the form of visual pictures, sights

Some people can also do a meditation and get intuitive hints or messages regarding the chakras.
Chakra Balancing Combo Time!

If you’re not too confident or you’re getting mixed signals or it just doesn’t seem to clear to you…then I recommend using 2 or 3 of the above suggested methods to get a chakra consensus. If you get 2 contradictory results then try a 3rd method & go with the majority. 😉

You’ll find that over time & with practice your abilities to figure out which chakras are out of balance will get better & quite keen. You may even “just know” without needing to check.

So that’s part 2. Part 3 will be about exactly what to do with the crystals to help balance our chakras.

I hope you’re enjoying this series so far. Thanks so much, as always, for reading, sharing & joining in!

Mega Sparkles, Glitter, Jelly Beans & all that jazz!!
