Black Tourmaline Healing Properties, Correspondences and Meanings

Hibiscus Moon Crystals 40 Comments

One stone that’s always on the top of my list is Black Tourmaline. By the way — if you want to check out my Top 10 Must-Have Crystal List, head over here.

So, today I’m giving you the lo-down on all things Black Tourmaline.

Let’s go!

Black Tourmaline Properties
The large pieces pictured above, are really good quality pieces of black tourmaline, for instance: Chunky, hefty, smooth.
Of course, you don’t have to have this kind of quality (which is very difficult to find anymore). The lower quality type emobodies the SAME energy.
Just so you know, many black tourmaline mines have been closed. Specifically, a large mine in China, where my high-quality specimens came out of.  So, the A-grade is no longer readily available. And if you do find it, it’s going to have a price tag to reflect its rarity!

The common type that you’re seeing out there these days is more spindly; more splintery and friable (in the same way of some kyanite is, if you’re familiar with that raw stone), meaning they’re more brittle, but… they work just as effectively!

Often times, this stone will be accompanied by quartz and mica just like the above specimen.

Black Tourmaline is a workhorse for your energy field, and one of my top 10 must-have crystals.

It’s a primo crystal tool for:

  • Neutralizing negative energy
  • Grounding
  • Energetic protection
  • Lowering risks from EMF exposure
  • Empaths

Transmuting Energy
I love this stone for transmuting energy, so if energy has a specific charge to it and it has a negative feel to it, black tourmaline is my go-to transmuter.

It’s excellent for bringing that energy back to neutral. For that reason, it’s always in front of me between me and my laptop. I’m transmuting that electromagnetic radiation coming off of the laptop. I’ve tested other crystals and things, and when I tested black tourmaline, I get good results.

It’s not the best thing. It’s not going to completely mitigate that energy, but it’s one thing I can do to help mitigate it.
Neutralizing a Space
I also like it for transmuting negative energy that people might bring into a space. For example, when I used to work in a classroom (which I left in 2012…) I used to be a science teacher for those of you that don’t know: some people would come into the room and they were just a sheer joy, and some people would come into the room and they’d suck the energy out of the space. Talk about energy vampires. There weren’t too many of those thankfully, but black tourmaline was wonderful for helping to mitigate that.

I had them conspicuously placed throughout my classroom. Heck, I could get away with putting any rock in my room that I wanted to. I taught geology as part of my curriculum, so I could put anything I wanted and no one would question a thing.

You can also make black tourmaline mojo kits and you can make room sprays with black tourmaline and all kinds of great stuff.

For the same purpose of transmuting energy in your space, Himalayan Salt is a great option and an entirely different approach to cleansing your space. Here’s another blog for you:  Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Himalayan Salt Lamps.
EMF Shield
I don’t like using silicates on my desk for the purpose of shielding from computer EMF, etc.

So, I hear people say, “Oh, put a piece of fluorite, put a piece of selenite, put a piece of citrine in front of your laptop.” Those crystals are silicates… and silicates amplify that energy. We use silicon chips in our electronics to make them work better, so I don’t want to amplify that energy. Anyway, let me get off my soapbox I go into that a lot more in my Certified Crystal Healer Course.

What I DO like to use for this purpose is a chunk of BT! (black tourmaline)

I also have a blog post here going into detail on crystals I like to use to help lower EMF exposure.
Grounding
The surface of our planet is covered in free electrons, which are very attracted to us (water + minerals)…if we allow them to be.

Problem is, we’re usually well insulated from these free electrons with our rubber soled shoes and carpeted or tiled floors so there’s very little if any direct contact happening and we’re depriving ourselves from Mother Earth’s balancing restorative energies. In other words, we’re disconnected.
This stone (BT) is ideal for helping us to connect and ground to Mother Earth.
Tourmaline Lore
Ancient peoples were (are) very aware of all of this and knew to monitor the cycles and to stay closely connected to the planet. Being closely in-tune allows us to regulate many bodily functions and feel plugged in. GROUNDED… dissipating any excess energy to the ground.

Our body’s various vibration frequency can move our body out of our dominant oscillary rate very easily when we experience stress, which we are constantly doing, especially since we are not regularly connecting with Mother Earth to re-balance.

Vibrational healing (like crystal healing) oscillates and naturally entrains our body back to its base resonant frequency.

I highly recommend staying grounded as much as possible and, yes, we can use crystals to help us to do that:

  • Black tourmaline is my go-to stone for this. In fact, it’s part of what I call my Sacred Grounding Trio: black tourmaline, smokey quartz, and hematite.
  • Do lots of Earthing (check out that book on Amazon!) Earthing is amazing! Get barefoot and go outside which is the ultimate in grounding. Your feet are meant to connect with Mother Earth! That’s why animals are so well-grounded and in-tune. They’re always barefoot!  But, I know— getting barefoot isn’t practical for all people and situations so here’s another blog I wrote:  Grounding Tips for Balance in a High Flying World.
  • Plus I’ve got more grounding info and tips for you, including a recipe for a Grounding Gem Elixir Oil in my blog; How to Ground using Crystals

Black Tourmaline Geology
While there are many different varieties of Tourmaline (I talk about Watermelon Tourmaline over here), you’ve probably noticed we are focusing on black tourmaline for this blog. 😉

Some of the main geological properties include:

  • Mohs Hardness of seven to seven-and-a-half
  • Also known as Schorl, a complex aluminum borosilicate
  • While the mine I mentioned the mine in China has closed, BT is also found in Mexico, Africa, United States, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, and Russia

Physics
Black Tourmaline has two critical physics properties:

  • It’s pyroelectric
  • It’s piezoelectric (just like clear quartz,  citrine, and rose quartz)
  • Both which mean that, essentially, it can polarize and transduce electricity and energy. It’s one of the reasons why I find it to be such a powerful and effective stone to work with.

    Chakras
Black Tourmaline is associated with the Root Chakra and the Earth Star Chakra.
The Root Chakra is located at the base of your spine and is associated with all things foundational including your sense of safety and security. It’s all about the fundamental things we need for survival. The Earth Star Charka, while not technically not one of the seven main chakras, it’s known as a “transpersonal chakra”…  located about six inches below your feet.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this spotlight on Black Tourmaline!  What do you think about this workhorse mineral?  Share with me in the comments below.

Empath Everyday Survival Guide: Crystals + Secrets for Sensitive Souls

Hibiscus Moon energy work 19 Comments

I’m so excited to bring this to you, because I recently did a poll on YouTube, asking what you guys wanted to hear about most and the topic crystals to help Empaths was high on the list.

We’re going to cover Empath Everyday Survival Guide, (but if you’re brand new to crystals you might be interested in reading this first).  This blog is all about crystals and secrets for sensitive souls. The goal is to avoid emotional hangovers, exhaustion, and sensory overload.

I’m right there with you guys.

    • When you’re with a lot of people, do you feel like you have no shield up between you and them? Or do you classify yourself as a sensitive soul, a sensitive person? Do you find yourself often in situations where you get energetically exhausted?
    • Are you a lightworker, an energy worker, or a bodyworker of any kind, massage therapist? This kind of work with others can zap the energy right out of you if you don’t know how to mitigate that. It’s essential to protect yourself and protect your energy, with an energetic shield of protection. Crystals can help you to do that.
    • Do you ever feel unexplainably uncomfortable with an environment, a place, the situation, a person? Do you get those feelings often? That’s your sign that you’re picking up on something that’s in disharmony with you. It might not feel that way to everyone else, but it’s in disharmony with you.

    What’s an Empath?
I looked in several different places to find a good definition and found this one on Urban Dictionary. (I love that dictionary…for some things, it’s quite funny)
An empath, defined there at Urban Dictionary, is a person who is capable of feeling the emotions of others, despite the fact that they themselves are not going through the same situation.
    Highly Sensitive People
Empaths, or highly sensitive people, can feel everything, to an extreme, more so than others. That’s okay if it doesn’t bother you if it’s not affecting you. But if it is, it can lead to feeling tired, feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, sensory overload, stressed out, or general anxiety.

So many of us are feeling anxiety, and overall feeling too much and that can lead to adrenal burnout.

This scenario is kind of like a chicken or the egg quandary. Is anxiety leading to adrenal fatigue or is adrenal fatigue leading to anxiety? There’s evidence going both ways. Adrenal burn out is a place you don’t want to be, because that can generate anxiety and panic attacks, in and of itself.

Being an empath, with the ability to pick up on, and feel, experience, the energy of others can be seen as a gift, because that extra information, that extra data you’re getting, can allow you to empathize with others or see things from another point of view.

On the other hand, it can be seen as a curse.

If you’re suffering side-effects from being an empath, you might be viewing it as a curse because it’s causing you to be bombarded with these extra feelings and emotions you might not even want to be dealing with, because it’s not your stuff.
We’re beings of energy and therefore we are affected by energy. We’re made of these trillions of cells, transmitting and receiving energy, all the time.
Students in my certified crystal healer course, know I love Dr. Bruce Lipton. He’s a developmental biologist. Lipton says that our cell membranes are liquid crystal semiconductors, made of silica.

That’s what quartz is made out of, silicon dioxide. These liquid crystal semiconductors have these gates and channels that open and close. They selectively let some stuff in, and they selectively keep some stuff out.

Dr. Lipton says that our DNA scans our environment for relevant frequencies and then reshapes itself accordingly. We can see this happening under a microscope. If we think about this, you bring the right crystal into that environment, and you can adjust your cell’s perception filters and transmute the energy of your environment.

The goal here, for the Empaths and the sensitive souls, is to create an environment that makes you feel good.

We want to steer clear of becoming overstimulated and overwhelmed.

You’re like, “Yeah, great. How do I do that?”

    Two things:

  •  Be highly selective of the situations and environments you place yourself in. We don’t have control over everything, but we have control over some of the things, so be highly selective of those things.
  • Have tools and supports at the ready. Like, crystals and stones, to help mitigate when you don’t have control over those situations.
  • Certainly, we can work with crystals, as our friends, our allies, as tools and supports, to assist us in achieving this goal. I always say that you can do this without crystals, but crystals are a tool.

The physics definition of a tool is something that allows you to do the work with less effort, with less energy.  So, if you’d like the extra assistance, and if you already love crystals, why not use them as an ally in doing this? Work together with them.

From that perspective, we can work with crystals to transmute and neutralize. Some crystals can neutralize and transmute the energetic frequencies, so they don’t carry specific frequencies that resonate with those bad feelings.

    Empath Crystals
Here are a few of my favorite crystals for empaths.

    1.   Black Tourmaline

Everybody loves black tourmaline. Everybody probably has a piece of black tourmaline. Black tourmaline is great for transmuting energy. It’s wonderful for that.

    2.  Smokey Quartz

Smokey quartz is great for not only transmuting the negative energy but detoxifying an environment. Detoxifying anything, even your body. Now, you want to work with true smokey quartz, not irradiated smokey quartz.  Some have a rich coffee brown like mine below which is from Namibia, Africa.

If it looks almost black, chances are it’s irradiated. Yeah, it’s giving off radiation.  Get out your Geiger counter, and stay away from it.

    3.  Amethyst

I have one I always keep near my workspace. The one I have next to my desk is a grape jelly amethyst, from Uruguay. It’s an absolute beauty.

Now, you don’t have to have all of these crystals. These are just a few that I like most for this purpose. You can choose to work with one or two of them.

    4.  Purple Jade

When you go to a gem show, and you’re looking for purple jade, it’s probably going to be rough, and in a bucket of water, because the water brings out the color.

When you cut and polish purple jade for lapidary purposes, it stays that color that it looks like when it’s wet.

Purple Jade is beautiful. It is rare making it harder to find. This stone is about spiritual knowledge and associated, of course, with the crown chakra and the third eye chakra. But, interestingly enough, it’s also associated with the earth star chakra, which is about six inches below our feet. So, it’s very grounding for us and a great protective stone for Empaths.

It’s not super expensive. The example I show in the video is pretty large and rough, and it’s meant for people who are going to be doing lapidary jewelry, due to that it goes for about $100.

    5.  Lodestone

Lodestone which is magnetic magnetite. Not all magnetite still retains its magnetic properties, but we like magnetic magnetite, which we call lodestone, because of that natural magnetic energy.

The magnetite can balance the polarities within our EMF field, within our auric field. Thereby, it’s going to help strengthen, stabilize, and balance your energy field, while helping with any kind of psychic overload or taking on too much. Like, the energy picked up by bodyworkers, lightworkers, energy workers.

    6.  Sugilite

You can call on the energy of Archangel Michael when working with Sugilite because this stone aligns itself well and allows you to work more closely with Archangel Michael to create an energetic shield of protection around you. Furthermore, sugilite helps balance your electromagnetic field, enhances the third eye and crown chakra as well, and is great with assisting to keep up that shield.

    7.  Black Obsidian

I usually advise to only go to black obsidian if you feel like you need some powerful protection like you’re calling on a bodyguard. Because it tends for the majority of people, to bring them down to a low, low state if they’re not in need of the heavy duty kind of protection. Therefore it’s a good idea to be discriminating when choosing whether or not you should work with black obsidian.

You don’t want to ground too much and bring in, maybe, a low-grade depression, or things like that, if you’re not prepared for the work that black obsidian does. I would only really use this if something major serious is going on and you need a really big boost of protection.

Next, I want to tell you about some specific ways you can work with these crystals so that you can use them effectively.
Because, reading about what crystal is good for this, what crystal is good for that, is great, but if you never actually put them to use, you’re just circling the base of the mountain and never getting to the peak. Right?
    It’s a lateral move.

You’re not taking a step forward; you’re not getting closer to the mountain peak. So it’s no use to know the correspondences, but have no practical ways to work them into your everyday life.
    Survival Guide for Empaths
I like to always give practical everyday uses for crystals, and so I’m going to share a highly effective, crystal shielding visualization technique and other tips below.
    Meditate
One thing you can do is meditate with any of these crystals. Even just spending five minutes in meditation, just paying attention to deep breathing, just feeling your breath. There’s nothing to do. Just sit there with a crystal, either in hand, or put it on your heart chakra, and sit in meditation.

Set the intention, at the beginning of your meditation, that this is going to help transmute the energy that’s entering your electromagnetic field.
    Protect Your Space
Another thing you can do is create a protective transmuting shield around your home, or your workspace, or wherever you might be, even in a car. You can place larger crystals in specific locations, like one near your front door, one near the back door.

Or you can go around to the four corners of your property. Most properties have four corners, some are oddly shaped and might have more, but one at each corner of the property, and create an outdoor grid for your home. I like black tourmaline for that. That’s my favorite stone for doing that.
    Empath Visualization Technique
The crystal shielding visualization technique, this is a crystal-induced energetic safeguard that’s going to help shield you from anything that you sense as harmful, or anxiety-inducing, or just stress causing. You feel it as negative or toxic in some way. This technique is also helpful at work or if you’re being cornered by a negative relative at a gathering.

We’re getting ready to go into the holiday season, lots of socializing, lots of different people and obligations. Think of this visualization as a protection, or a shield, a literal energetic shield. It’s highly effective in helping you create boundaries where you get to neutralize any negative forces, or perceived negative forces.

How many of you are science fiction geeks, like me, and remember, “shields up” in Star Trek? “Shields up.” Well, you can even say that when you’re getting ready to do this crystal shielding visualization technique. It’s just, “Shields up.”

Next, you’re going to close your eyes and connect to your breath. Feel the breath going in and out, as you allow your body’s electromagnetic field to merge with the electromagnetic field of the crystal, or crystals, in your hand.  You’re allowing them to entrain, or influence, your energy, as you build up your energetic shield.

Now, picture a strong, impenetrable large egg-shaped force field of energy enveloping your body. It’s large, going as far out as your arms can reach, to your sides, in front of you, and several feet above your head, and below your feet, all around. This large energetic egg-shaped force field.

Finally, within the protection of this shield, feel the intention of being grounded, stable, and centered.  The crystals are going to help you achieve that.
    Empath Mojo Kit
Also, keep a little pouch with a tumbled black tourmaline. I say tumbled, because when you keep a pouch of crystals together, they tend to rub together and kind of ruin the aesthetics, break off little chips, and things like that. When you go with tumbled stones, for little kits, tumbled stones tend to maintain their integrity longer, better.

So you can keep a little pouch with a tumbled black tourmaline, or smokey quartz, maybe two of each, one of each, it doesn’t matter, in your pocket, or your backpack, or your purse. Someplace where it just becomes part of the stuff that goes out with you.

Alternatively, you may want to make several of these so you can have one at work, in a desk drawer, one at home, and one in your car.  Whenever you feel like you need the shields up, pull the stones out and place them in your hands.
    Earthing
Another option is to get grounded by earthing. How do you do that? Take your shoes off and put your feet on the ground. If it’s too cold to do that, take your gloves off, put your bare hands on a tree.  Likewise, hug a tree.  That’s also grounding and earthing, connecting with the earth’s energy.

In short, earthing helps to dissipate excess positive ions and physically ground you, electrically ground you to the planet.

    10 Must-Have Crystals

Hibiscus Moon Crystals, Videos 72 Comments

Today I’m going to share my top 10 must-have crystals.

Whether you’re a beginner or you’re intermediate or advanced, just check in and see if you have these in your collection.  Maybe you are missing one or two?  It’s not the end-all-be-all for everyone, this is my opinion, so I’d love to hear what your top 10 must-have crystals are; please share in the comments below this post.

    10 Must-Have Crystals
These might not necessarily be the easiest crystals to get because I don’t always feel like the easiest crystals to get are going to be the most effective for what we’re trying to achieve in our must-have crystal collection. Maybe it’s time to evolve your collection or upgrade your collection a little bit. Most of them are relatively easy to find, but a slight departure from the usual beginners list.

By the way, I want to say these crystals that I’m going over, I’m not talking about little-tumbled stones. Tumbled stones are wonderful (and I show you vesuvianite in the video). Great to have, but when I’m talking about 10 must-have crystals, I’m talking about something a little bit chunkier, a little bit more size to them because yes, when it comes to the energy force around a crystal, the energy around it is based on size, the mass in the crystal, all these factors. We’re going with a larger size. Not super large though we are staying practical here.

I’m not talking about huge, mongo crystals because what are you going to do with it? They’re great to have in your environment, yes, but sometimes we need them for practical purposes, so something a little larger than the norm, but not mongo.  If at all possible, in its natural state, but sometimes it’s not possible.

    1.  Clear Quartz Crystal:   In my vid I show you a clear quartz, natural point. It’s got really good clarity. It’s almost water clear. Clear quartz is your general, all around great crystal to have on hand. It’s a clarifier. It’s an amplifier, as well. It can make any other crystal work that you’re doing even more effective by amplifying the energy. It can also help you gain clarity like if you need to meditate on something, you need clarity around a certain subject. Clear quartz is a great one to have.  You can do just about anything with clear quartz.

If I was going to have only one crystal on this list, it would be clear quartz.  Not milky quartz. You want to try to get it as clear as you possibly can. It’s okay to have some veils in it. The clear quartz crystal I show you in my video is just about as clear as they come. It’s from Arkansas, I believe, and what’s cool is it’s starting to self-heal on the bottom. It broke off at some point obviously, but it’s not very sharp. It’s kind of rounded and a lot of these have grown into points. You can see that hexagonal structure all along its faces, really cool.

    2.  Rose Quartz:  It’s a light pink. You usually don’t see them in points like the one in the video. That one was cut and polished, cut on the bottom so it could stand. It’s rough all around the shaft, but the top is cut and polished into a point. The reason I went for the cut polished one is that I needed it in a crystal grid and I wanted a center antenna to send out, transmit the energies of my crystal grid, so I went for a point. Usually, my rose quartz is natural and I just use this during this because it’s larger and you can see it better, I have a big, mongo-sized rose quartz by my front door.

Rose quartz is your crystal of love and compassion. It can become your close buddy crystal that you make a really close bond with (like I have). I have one by my bedside. I talk about it all the time. It’s my buddy quartz. It’s my best buddy. I use it for a lot of different things, any kind of love, and we know there are different kinds of love in the English language. We should probably have different vocabulary words for the different kinds of love, but there’s friendship love. There’s family love. There’s personal relationship love. There’s self-love. There’s compassion for the world and for all the beings that live on the planet. Kindness and compassion is also the energy that rose quartz invites in. All of these different types of love obviously are very, very important, so rose quartz is one that you definitely want to have in your top 10 collections, in my opinion.

    3.  Flourite:   Fluorite comes in many different colors, purple, clear, green, every color in the rainbow just about. Yellow is not as common, but it does come in yellow. Rainbow Flourite usually grows in masses or in the octahedron.  It grows naturally as an octahedron expressing its sacred geometry.  It’s part of the cubic crystal system, so octahedrons are inherent in the cubic crystal system.

Why do I like fluorite? Well, fluorite is great for decision making, for clarifying decisions when you’re just not sure which path to take. Fluorite is the one to work with on that.

It’s also good for anything to do with thinking, the mind, meta, studying. That’s another good type of energy that fluorite invites in. If you need to focus on something, concentrate on something, make a decision, fluorite is your go-to for that and any color fluorite ill do. It doesn’t matter what color fluorite you choose for that.

    4.  Green Jade:  Green jade I really like for healing, also bringing about good fortune. I have a nice big green jade Hotei (I found out).  Everyone calls it Buddha, but I was told no, that’s Hotei, so if I’m incorrect, it’s a good luck symbol. The fact that it’s carved in green jade exponentiates that energy even more, so looking for good fortune and good vitality, health, good health, healing, boosting health, boosting the immune system; green jade, you want to have that on hand.

    5.  Amethyst:  While I’ve got several, I love my amethyst heart my husband got for me one year in Tucson. It’s an Uruguayan amethyst. I really like the energy of the Uruguayan amethyst. It’s got this really deep, deep, dark, purple, vibrant color. The energy is so much more effective from these deeply colored Uruguayan amethysts. The heart is carved from a geode and polished on the back.

Why did I choose amethyst?  Amethyst is spiritually enhancing while also being spiritually protective. If you want to be spiritually protective or psychically protected for various reasons (that’s a different topic for a different day :)) or you just want to go into a healing session or a meditation session and just be spiritually protected while you’re doing that, then work with amethyst.

Amethyst also enhances the third eye, which helps you connect to your spiritual self, better connect to your own higher self, and have that stronger connection to your spiritual side; it enhances and invites that energy in. I like that it invites that energy in of being more spiritual, while also being very protective at the same time. It’s got the added benefit of also being very calming, so great to work with while meditating.

Amethyst helps you to focus more on your meditations if you have that monkey mind while meditating (I think we all do sometimes  … who doesn’t?  Except some of us who are very, very zen).

When I meditate with amethyst, the amethyst actually helps me to focus more on one thing while I’m meditating, whether I’m contemplating something specific or I just want to focus on my breath or sometimes I hold the amethyst and I just consider inhale, focus on the breath going in through the nostril, inhale, inhale, inhale, and then exhale, exhale, exhale. My brain just stays right there, doesn’t think about all the other to-dos and things that you got to do and oh, so and so is coming over. I’ve got to clean the house and wash the dishes and blah. All that stuff that happens during meditation, it just kind of floats away and allows your brain to accept the benefits of not thinking of all those things.  Amethyst entrains with your energy so that you become calmer and become more of that frequency. You become a vibrational match to that frequency. That happens with any of the crystals that we’re working with. That’s the whole point in working with the crystals.

    6.  Black Tourmaline: The next one on my list is black tourmaline.   These are not in order of importance or anything like that (except the first one, clear quartz, if I could only have one crystal, it would be that one, but the rest are not in any kind of specific order). In the video, I show you an especially nice, good quality piece of black tourmaline. It doesn’t need to be that kind of quality which is very difficult to find anymore. A lot of the black tourmaline mines have been closed. The specific mine that came out of in China has closed, so they no longer have it in the same quality. You would have to purchase from estate sales and it can be really pricey.  The regular kind that you’re seeing out there these days is more spindly now. They’re more splintery and friable, meaning they’re more brittle, but they work just as effectively.

Black Tourmaline has lots of physics properties as a crystal goes. It’s pyroelectric. It’s piezoelectric, which means that it can polarize electricity and energy within it. I dove deep into that over on this blog post.  It’s one of the reasons why I find it to be so effective.

It’s very good for transmuting energy, so if energy has a specific charge to it and it has a negative feel to it, black tourmaline is your go-to transmuter. It’s excellent for bringing that energy back to neutral.  For that reason, it’s always in front of me between me and my laptop. I’m transmuting that electromagnetic radiation coming off of the laptop. I’ve tested other crystals and things and when I tested black tourmaline and I showed this in a YouTube video, I get good results. It’s not the best thing. It’s not going to completely mitigate that energy, but it’s one thing I can do to help mitigate it.

I don’t like using silicates on my desk for that purpose. I hear people say, “Oh, put a piece of fluorite, put a piece of selenite, put a piece of citrine in front of your laptop.” That’s a silicate and silicates amplify that energy. We use silicon chips in our electronics to make them work better, so I don’t want to amplify that energy. Anyway, let me get off my soapbox 😉 I go into that in my course, but we’re not talking about that right now, we’re talking about why black tourmaline is on my list.

I also like it for transmuting negative energy that people might bring into a space. When I used to work in a classroom, which I left in 2012 … I used to be a science teacher for those of you that don’t know. I was a science department head. Some people would come into the room and they were just a sheer joy and some people would come into the room and they’d suck the energy out of the space. Talk about energy vampires. There weren’t too many of those thankfully, but the black tourmaline was wonderful. I had them conspicuously placed throughout my space. Heck, I could get away with putting any rock in my room that I wanted to. I taught geology as part of my curriculum, so I could put anything I wanted and no one would question a thing. Black tourmaline was wonderful for that.

You can also make mojo kits and you can make room sprays with black tourmaline and all kinds of great stuff, so it’s on my top 10 list.

    7.  Smokey Quartz:  I love the coffee hue to smokey quartz. Check out the one in my video, it’s not irradiated. It doesn’t have that black-gray hue that irradiated smoky quartz has. It’s from Namibia in Africa and it’s just a gorgeous specimen.

Smokey quartz is wonderful for detoxing, so detoxing of any sort. Maybe you did get affected by an energy vampire and you got home from wherever you were and you just feel it and you’re like “oh, my god…what just happened to me? I got energetically beat up”.  Smokey quartz is your one to work with for those times because it’s going to detox you, detox that energy.  It’s also a good one to put in water gem elixirs for bringing that detoxifying energy to your water.

    8.  Blue Calcite:  Next one is blue calcite. If you just want a soft, gentle energy, blue calcite is wonderful to work with. If you want to bring peace and calm to a space, blue calcite. It’s a light blue. You can see the blue right there. It’s a very gentle energy and you if want to bring a spa-like atmosphere to a space go for a larger piece of blue calcite.

Blue calcite is relatively inexpensive, but it’s not one that you often find. If you go to your local crystal shop, you might need to request that they special order some blue calcite. If you go to a gem show, you might not necessarily find it because it’s not a top seller. People really don’t seek it out, but I think people are really missing out on a great energy.

Blue calcite is also wonderful for balancing anything in the body, balancing hormones, balancing energy in general. It’s also a great throat chakra stone for balancing the throat chakra. You want to bring that peace, calming energy.

Also, if you’re looking to create a connection during your meditations to the angels, blue calcite is your stone for that. I tried to pick stones that are good for several different things or for really important things that come up frequently in most of our lives. Like I said, this is not the end-all-be-all list for every single one of us. Again, you can tell me in the comments if you think I’ve missed or you have others you would include on this list.

    9.  Hematite:  You’ll often see polished hematite. And sometimes you can see the natural red of the hematite coming through, but when you polish it, it looks like a dark gray mirror. We learned how to determine if your hematite is natural in my Crystal Savvy class, those of you that took that class. You need to be careful out there, guys. There’s a lot of fake hematite floating around, a lot of it. Make sure you’re purchasing from someone who’s very knowledgeable, who has a great reputation, and even though some of them out there that have good online reputations are selling fakes we’ve discovered in my Crystal Savvy class, unfortunately, so get good recommendations. That’s all I’m saying.

Make sure that they are knowledgeable. Ask the seller how do you know it’s real hematite? See if they know how to test. If they know how to test, chances are they have tested or they’re going to know because you asked them and they’re going to find out if their hematite is real or not. Ask the questions. Put their feet to the fire and make them tell you how they are finding out if these crystals are real or not. I’m just saying that for this hematite because so much of the hematite out there is fake. If it’s magnetic, it’s fake.

Hematite is good for grounding and a lot of us right now, especially if we’re dealing with a lot of stress and anxiety, need the grounding, so we really need to focus on getting ourselves grounded, grounded to Mama Earth. Hematite is great for that.

Hematite is partly made of iron. That’s where the red in the hematite comes from. Iron is closely related to Mama Earth. We even have an iron-nickel core at the center, we think. Scientists speculate it’s probably in the shape of a dodecahedron and if you want to throw some sacred geometry into it and it makes that connection to the core of our planet. That’s why it’s so helpful at grounding us. It’s also great for balancing the root chakra at the base of our spine, so that’s the chakra you want to focus on when you’re looking to get grounded. Hematite is great for that grounding.

    10.  Congo Citrine:  The last one on my list of top 10 is natural Congo citrine. Not any old citrine, natural Congo citrine.

Most of the citrine, (like I just said about the hematite) out on the market is fake. It’s baked. It’s baked amethyst. I used to say oh, don’t worry about it. It’s fine, but in the times that we’re in now and how our energy has changed and is changing on the planet, things have stepped up. We’re getting more cosmic energy to our planet than we have in any of our lifetimes.  We know now the energy has stepped up.

We have UVC now. You know about that, UVC rays? We’ve always known about A and B, but now we have UVC rays. If you go out with a UV meter like I have and you go out and check the UV radiation we’re getting now, it’s higher than ever before. The reason for this is the corona around the Sun has shrunk because of the area we’re flying through in the Milky Way Galaxy. I know I’m going off tangent here, but I feel like I need to say this, so therefore, we are not getting as much protection from our Sun in our solar system. A lot more cosmic particles are getting past the Sun and hitting our planet, so a lot of things are happening.

The Sun is in a solar minimum right now. A lot of things are happening. A lot more energy is coming up to us, so, therefore, all that is to say I feel like we need to step up some of the crystals that we’re using, so therefore, no more fake citrine for me. When I’m going to work with citrine, it’s going to be the natural. I like the Congo energy because it has more of that citrine-specific vibrational frequency.

You’ll notice the color is a little bit more on the orange-yellow side than the citrine you find in Brazil, which is very yellow. It has more energy to it in the way that it was baked in Mama Earth. The Congo citrines are sometimes called cathedral libraries or they might be called abundance crystals because they have all these little babies along the base growing parallel to the parent crystal in the center. They are not easy to find.  That’s why I said this list is a little bit more on the advanced side. These are not easy to find.

You definitely aren’t going to find them in tumbled stones. If someone’s telling you that they have natural Congo citrine tumbled stones, just whoop, turn and walk the other way because if you had real natural Congo citrine, which is quite expensive, why would you tumble it? You wouldn’t. These, even in a very beat up state, all beat up and messed up and they’ve been tossed down the mountain, people will still sell them in their natural state because they are worth a lot.

Supply and demand are how economics works. The supply is very low. The area in the Congo where we used to get these from they’ve closed it off. The demand is very high. Therefore, the price is high. You’re not going to take it and tumble it. I’ve seen people selling tumbled Congo citrine. I’m going to say it…Bullshit. Please get your antennas up about that.

Natural Congo citrine, if you don’t have one in your collection, I suggest start looking for one. Just have it on your radar. You don’t need to get one today. When you go to gem shows when you’re shopping online ask the sellers. Ask around, see who has one.

The reason why we want citrine in our collection is it’s wonderful for bringing in positive, good vibe energy, so if you’re feeling depression or seasonal affective disorder from too much winter.  Citrine is great for giving you that sunny disposition, so if you’re missing some of that, you need some amplification of that energy, citrine is wonderful for that. Citrine is also known as the merchant stone because it’s wonderful for bringing in that prosperity energy. If you need to do better in business if you’re looking to do a crystal grid to increase your revenue or your paycheck or you’re looking for a new job or you’re looking to sell a house, anything to do with prosperity, citrine.

Tell me in the comments, I would love to hear from you did I miss any? Do you have these? Are there any that I should’ve swapped out, any that you’re missing?

How do you Make Your Car a Sacred Space?
It’s high time I give my crystal car mojo kit, (that I originally created many years ago) a dose of fresh juju!

So, I figured while I freshened up this little crystal kit, I’d also chat with you about setting up sacred space in an unlikely place; your car.  After all, it’s a place that many of us spend a lot of time. Am I right?

    Crystal Car Mojo Kit
The first thing I add to make my car a sacred space is my must-have car protection mojo kit. We sometimes forget what a dangerous piece of machinery our car can be. My husband and I have been using one of these kits in our respective cars for over ten years now and we’ll never go without.

I detail in the above video exactly how to create my car mojo kit.
    Extra Oomph!
If you’d like to do more of a ritual type of thing with your mojo kit to make that much more powerful…

    • You can meditate with your Car Mojo Kit beforehand and infuse it with the clear intention of calm, peace and protective safety.
    • You can also set it on your altar to charge it up while giving it more of your intention.
    • You can create a general Protection Crystal Grid and place this mojo kit in the center of that grid to imbue it with protective properties.

    Hand Sanitizer
Another practical and useful type of thing I like to add to my car sacred space is an all-natural hand sanitizer.

You know that you can make your own or you can buy an organic non-toxic option like Dr. Bronner’s Organic Lavender Hand Sanitizer and add some special magic to it. I like t add a few drops of my own high-quality essential oils and some sparkle to liven it up.  I really like this one (below) because of its small convenient size that fits right glove box or center console.

    Here’s my recipe of add-ins:

    • Add 2 drops of Lavender essential oil (or organic dried herb)
    • Add 2 drops of black pepper essential oil (or peppercorns) for protection
    • Toss in 4 small amethyst chips

    Protective Amulet Charm
The beautiful blue glass eye amulet is called a Nazar (a Turkish word meaning “sight”). I’m Sicilian and this is a popular symbol of protection for the entire Mediterranean region. Since ancient times it’s been well-known as a protection talisman throughout the region; protection from the Evil Eye or “malocchio in Italian. It’s also known to simply offer general protection as well. But it’ll work for anyone giving me the ole’ “Stink Eye” or any road rage while out puttering around!

I’ve anointed it with Black Pepper essential oil and hung it from my rearview mirror.

While anointing it with the oil, I set the clear intention for protection, calm and safety and then hung it up.
    Rearview Mirror Altar?
On the same cord with my Nazar talisman, I’ve hung an essential oil locket with the Om [Sanskrit: ॐ] symbol on it (representative of the divine sacred sound of the universe) to diffuse essential oils in my car sacred space.  This locket contains a special paper disk designed to hold essential oil scent. I do find that in the intense Florida sun I need to freshen up the oil every few days. Since I know you’re gonna ask, I got mine here. 😉

You can put 4 drops of your high quality 100% pure essential oil of choice. I used 2 drops of black pepper + 2 drops of Lavender, (4 is a protection number) right on the disc and close the locket. You can refresh the disc as needed and refresh the oil.

Anyone can turn their car into a sacred space with the right tools and some intention behind it … then you’re ready to roll!

So tell me. What do you think about making your car a sacred space?  Do you have a mojo kit in yours? Can you think of other uncommon spaces that you can convert into sacred space?  Share with me in the comments below, I’d love to hear from you. And if you’d like to create a sacred space of your own, I have a FREE ekit here to help you do just that.

    Crystal Blessings!
