Is it Gypsum, Selenite, or Satin Spar?

As of late, some have gotten very geotechnical with the terminology on this. So please allow me to clarify a bit.

What many have called “Selenite” for years (perhaps as clear back as the 15th century!) is most likely actually properly termed as “Satin Spar” nowadays.

Gypsum

There’s much confusion among these three closely related minerals:

  1. Selenite
  2. Satin Spar
  3. Gypsum

Well, actually they’re ALL a form of gypsum. All three are close siblings in my mind. 😉

Crystals: How Do They Work? — the Full Break-Down! PART 1

More and more I am asked: how crystals work.

Or more specifically I’m frequently asked how they can quickly explain to others how crystals work.

(By the way, this blog post includes a video I filmed a bit ago but I didn’t get the attention it deserved. Every time I share with someone who asks me how crystals work they are so grateful for this explanation. So I’ve added some more info, updates, and info here to go along with it.)

Sorry, but I don’t have a quick explanation. I usually take an entire course to explain it. 😉 However, I could break it down into a couple of blog posts. I know that’s not quick. It’s not the elevator speech you were hoping for but it’s the best I can do.

Crystals have vibrations just like everything else does.

It’s important to keep in mind that our entire physical universe is made up of pure energy and vibration.

Fake Ajoite Rant

Sigh, yes, fake ajoite… again.

Let’s get pronunciation out of the way first, for the love of all things cannoli…

The Crux of the Matter

So what we seem to have happened here is that since true-blue Ajoite is soooooo rare and expensive now, we have sellers now calling milky quartz cast-offs with any sort of blue or green mineral in them and calling them “AJOITE”.

No, sorry. It’s not. 

THIS is not ajoite!

And it’s not “Raw Ajoite”… no such thing!

I’m not sorry.

You try to sell that low-grade quartz mass off as “ajoite” amongst the educated rock hounds and mineral collectors at any Gem Show worth it’s salt —

and you’ll get your ass handed to you.
