Minty Mermaid Cold Cream

Hibiscus Moon Everyday/Personal Stuffs, mermaids 9 Comments

Making a mess in the kitchen again! I made up my favorite cold cream. Its luxurious and moisturizing for removing my make up. I use straight olive oil for removing my mascara and this for the rest of my face. A year or so ago I went from oily skin to medium/dry skin and this concoction does the trick. It glides off my make up and dirt from the day while super-moisturizing my skin. The aloe soothes and helps cut the oils and the mint helps to tone my skin. I follow this with witch hazel to tone my skin afterwards. These are my ingredients:

1/8c (or a bit more) vegetable shortening
1/4c aloe vera gel
1 tsp olive oil
2-3 drops peppermint essential oil

I warm the shortening until it melts then remove it from the heat. Let it cool for a couple minutes then fold in the aloe vera gel. Add the olive oil and keep stirring slowly for a minute. Finally, I add the peppermint essential oil then jar it. My label isn’t cute but, it’s just for me.

Nightstand Tag

I got this idea from my subscription to Discover magazine. In each issue they interview a famous scientist of the moment and the end of the interview always asks them for a list of what is on their nightstand at that very moment. Leave it to a GEEK!

It’s always my favorite part of the interview. So interesting at times. So Valentine’s Day (which was very nice BTW) morning I thought it would be a fun idea to try with my new blogger friends. The idea is to post a photo of your nightstand as is and a list briefly explaining each item. (A bare nightstand is telling too.) Next, you have to tag 10 other bloggers and let them know by posting on their blog. Ask them to visit your post about the Nightstand Tag so that they know what/how to do it.

And even if you haven’t been tagged…do it anyway! Let’s have some fun.

1. My large reading lamp
2. Goodnight Sleep Body Lotion (Bath & Body Works), I swear this stuff works like a charm.
3. A copy of The Secret
4. A copy of The Witch in Every Woman by Laurie Cabot
5. my wireless alarm clock (necessary for frequent power outages, I have a back up wireless in my top drawer just in case)
6. wooden coaster which usually has a drink of water on it every night
7. Robitussin for my incessant coughing from the night before

OK, now I tag:
1. Amethystiana
2. Lizzie’s Logic
3. Clairedulalune
4. A Witch’s Way
5. Dolly and the Black Dog
6. Hocus Pocus
7. Little Faerie Tales
8. Sit for a Spell with Sun Tiger
9. Witchy Mama
10. Enchanted Inspirations

Done with Transferring Posts

I am finally done transferring posts from old blog to this one. That was no easy job. Now the time jumping around will end. I just didn’t like the idea of having some of my older posts residing somewhere else. I’ve been blogging since 2001 in one place or another. My posts may not be numerous but they go back to the beginning of blog-time, so there’s a lot of history there for me. I like to look back on them from time to time like an old diary. I may get rid of the really old ones though.

I really like this blog site so much better. Happy I’m here and grateful for all the new blog-friends and readers. 🙂
