What are the Best Crystals For Aquarius?

Hibiscus Moon astrology, chakras, Videos 19 Comments

So  it’s that time of year for you Crystal Hottie Aquarians to celebrate Life!
Let’s Talk about a Crystal for Aquarians

I am not claiming that I am an astrology expert. At all.

I know about my own sign and I follow it and do see a lot of the alignments in it. But that’s it.

So why am I giving astrological advice here at all?

Well, I get the astrological/crystal correspondence question quite often so I thought I’d start doing a series of these videos.

The person who I follow along with when it comes to crystals-astrology-alignments is Edgar Cayce.

A while ago he came up with certain crystal alignments that went along with astrological signs. In fact, I learned that info from this here book:

Please don’t ask me about commercial “birthstones” b/c most of that info comes from various gemological societies for the purpose of selling gemstones. Although, some are reported to have come from ancient teachings, I don’t know which have & which have not. But if you do know of a source for that info, please let me know about it!! I see a lot more sense in what Edgar Casey did with his astrological alignments than the usual birth stones we hear about.

Edgar Casey recommended Garnet for Aquarians

Now there are several different types of garnet but the one that I see most often recommended that kind of seems to make most sense to me is Almandine Garnet. And, it’s a gorgeous deep, deep, deep red stone; usually has no transparency in it; looks almost black! Staring into a larger piece, with the sunlight gleaming off of it, I think it looks like a glittering dazzling deep burgundy galaxy forming & organizing.

When almandines are tumbled, they look like black cherries. Just Beautiful!

[caption id="attachment_15545" align="aligncenter" width="600"] A natural (yet polished) almandine garnet dodecahedron expressing its inherent sacred geometry![/caption]

Aquarius’ date range is from January 20th – February 18th. It’s a water sign. After looking over the personality traits that align with Aquarians, I feel like the reason why Edgar Casey chose garnet is because it’s a root chakra stone & its quite grounding.

It’s also a stone all about strength + security.

AND about balancing that root chakra.

Mr. Cayce most likely chose this stone to provide a balancing effect for Aquarians, helping to counter-balance that water sign up with some earth element.

Garnet is an aluminum silicate & it’s relatively hard on the Mohs Hardness Scale; anywhere between a 6.5-7.5. So you can find lots of garnet jewelry pieces making it very convenient to wear.

Do  you have other stones that you prefer to work with  as an Aquarian or for Aquarians that you know?  Please post it in the comments below.

Best Crystal for Capricorns: What Wikipedia Can’t Tell You

Hibiscus Moon astrology, Crystals, Videos 20 Comments

Capricorns! It’s our time to shine sparkly ones!
I like talking about Capricorns because I’m a Capricorn and our birthdays land between December 22nd and January 19th. And a crystal that I really like to work with is Ruby.

Edgar Cayce  actually gave us a list of crystals to work with the different astrological signs. I don’t really don’t subscribe at all to the birth stones that go along with different birth months because those were brought about by different jewelry associations to help sell the gem stones.

The astrological correspondences I feel make a lot more sense and go along with the different personality types or energy types that have to do with our astrological signs.
So, the sign we are in now is Capricorn.

Capricorns have a tendency to be very patient people, intelligent, ambitious people, highly ambitious sometimes to a fault. Very grounded, very earthy people, and the sign is, it’s an Earth sign and the sign is goat!

Now I’m not an astrological expert at all. There are plenty of you out there, I know there are. So I hope I gave a good, overall, general viewpoint of a Capricorn 😉

The crystal that we like to use for that astrological sign is Ruby. And in my vid, I show you a beautiful Ruby specimen with the six sides showing perfect fastening in the rock matrix. And I really, really just love it! It’s right in the granite, and it’s beautiful; just a beautiful representation of a deep red Ruby.

Ruby is part of a crystal family that we call Corundum. It’s an Aluminum Oxide.

It’s got the Mohs hardness, (“Mohs hardness” is a term we use to determine how hard the mineral is in comparison to others), so it’s a relative scale. It’s got the Mohs hardness of 9. So it’s super hard. Diamond in comparison is a 10, and that’s the hardest.

It’s a very, very tough mineral. So with that comes energy of passion, energy of strength, an energy of ambition and courage, of course, so that makes a lot of sense right? It has a lot of vibrational alignment with Capricorns.

Say you’re looking to give a birthstone to a Capricorn, it’d probably would be a lot more appreciated to give them a Ruby  rather to give them an Aquamarine or Blue Topaz or Tanzanite even, those are the ones I’ve seen listed that go along with birth month that again the Gemological associations and things came up with.

The Ruby seems to fit a lot better for a Capricorn to me.

So let me know what you think about that, okay? Let’s hear about your experiences with birthstone gems versus Ruby in the comments below.

Does an Eclipse Effect Energy?

You betchya!

Four eclipses on the horizon for 2012. Those of you that have been following me for a while know that I love to ride those Mother Earth energies like a Bonsai Pipeline! And I like to use the energies of crystals right along with it whenever I can.

Eclipses harbor powerful energy that intertwine with Mother Earth’s Grid (I explain more about this grid in my little book; Crystal Grids).

You don’t need to be able to visibly see an  eclipse for its energy to be able to affect you. And that’s a good thing too b/c its very difficult to catch an eclipse, especially a Solar one! But the effects of its energy on us has even been tested by many a scientist. Of course, they have yet to come to a decisive conclusion, but we don’t need no steeeeenkin’ scientific conclusion. We know! When you’re in-tune w/ Mother Earth you can just feel this stuffs. Right?

Just as I teach with crystals, if an energy is High Amplitude (meaning it carries a whopping lot of energy) it can mess with the base frequency of an object. I classify an eclipse as a high amp event which can leave an imprint in Mother Earth’s grid which can, in turn,  influence us. Make sense?

Since I don’t feel expert at working with energy on the magnitude of a Total Solar Eclipse (don’t know if I ever will) I don’t like to do too much messing around with it. I’m good with simply acknowledging & respecting it.

I will work with Lunar eclipses & such when creating certain special Gem Elixir blends. Those make for some supremely special edition potions difficult to replicate!
So what’s on tap for 2012?

  • May 20: Annular Solar Eclipse– This eclipse happens when the Moon is a tad closer to the Sun leaving a bright ring of  Sun around the Moon.  Solar eclipses can only appear  during a new moon & in the day time, of course. This means that you are working with new moon energy (great for cleansing, purging, ending things & letting go). Good time to clean out closets & such. Less amplitude than a Total Solar Eclipse. Click here for a NASA map of where you need to be to see this event. Crystals to Work with: herkimer diamond & citrine, stellar beam calcite

  • Jun 04: Partial Lunar Eclipse– I view Lunar eclipses as a really powerful Full Moon. Since this is a partial eclipse its less so, but a powerful Full Moon none the less. High amplitude, no doubt. For me, the Full Moon is a time to be grateful for what the last lunar cycle has brought about & to look to plans & changes for the next cycle. Lunar Eclipses are a good energy to bring about change. Any course corrections necessary for the next cycle? Just contemplating that. I no longer put my crystals out under Lunar Eclipse energy. I feel its just too wonky.  (Click here for NASA maps) Crystals to Work with: moonstone, fluorite
  • Nov 13: Total Solar Eclipse- this is  mega-powerful energy here! Whoa…lots of banishing energy. Personally, I feel the energy is too wild for my liking so I just appreciate it & notice. Think of it…the Sun, the Moon & the Earth are in perfect alignment. The energies are STACKED! Very powerful stuff and something that I don’t feel comfortable messing around with myself.  I’ll just stand back & watch thank you very much! (Click here for NASA map)

  • Nov 28: Penumbral Lunar Eclipse– this one is like a partial lunar eclipse but has some unobservable differences (points of contact) & not too striking to look at, but the slight energy difference is there none the less. Again, this is good energy to bring about change & to look for course-corrections. (Click here for NASA maps) This is a great opportunity to make some powerful gem elixirs too!! Crystals to Work with: moonstone, fluorite
[caption id="attachment_3212" align="aligncenter" width="300"] moonstone[/caption]

Notice, the eclipses occur in pairs of solar with lunar? Balancing of energies. Just an interesting little tidbit.

So, how are you planning on working with the celestial energies? I’d love to hear about it, Crystal Hottie! Please share below!

Hang on for the RIDE! 🙂 Surf’s Up!

Wayne Gretsky, Crystals and Astrology

Hibiscus Moon astrology, Crystal Healing, Crystals 5 Comments

Well, the Universe certainly arranged things quite nicely to help me with my self publishing of my book, Crystal Grids. I’ve been using Catherine Ryan Howard’s book Self Printed as my bible with the whole process. Just as I was expressing my fears about formatting the book with my editor Sarah, she suggested I contact Catherine to see if she knew anyone who could do it for me. Ms. Howard, the best selling author and self pub. guru? No way.

But lately, I’ve been muttering Wayne Gretzky’s famous quote to myself:

“You’ll always miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

So I took the shot!

Well, turns out Catherine (yes, I’m on a 1st name basis now with the self pub guru) had been thinking about providing formatting as a service. From her blog: “Something funny happened to me last week, a sort of message from the Universe about what I should be doing with my time. Well, it was more like an elbow to the gut. Let’s just say I’m embarking on a bit of a new business (ad)venture, one that ties in quite nicely with Self-Printed if I do say so myself. Check back on Friday for details. For now, I shall leave you with a clue: migraine.” I suspect that migraine was caused by me, but I digress.

OK, change gears, different topic. Many people ask me if there are certain crystals for certain birth months. or if crystals are aligned with certain astrological signs according to their natural properties. Now, I don’t jive much with the Gregorian calendar and its respective birthstones. Not at all really. Its a calendar invented by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582 so it has no Mother Earth cyclic basis and that’s where I lose interest.

I do, however follow and agree with some of Edgar Cayce’s teachings and he has listed specific crystals aligned with the Zodiac signs. I feel every stone has its own properties and if that set of properties meshes well with a particular astrological sign, well, that’s how they get paired up together! Some people are very in tune with astrology so, I can understand why that’s a crystal concern for many.

So here’s Edgar Cayce’s suggestions:
Aquarius, garnet
Pisces, amethyst
Aries, bloodstone
Taurus, sapphire
Gemini, agate
Cancer, emerald
Leo, onyx
Virgo, carnelian
Libra, cat’s eye
Scorpio, aquamarine
Sagittarius, topaz
Capricorn, ruby

Do you think your respective crystal would benefit you?
