Can you prepare foods &/or medicines using crystals & stones?

Some of us get soooo into our crystals that we want to use them in absolutely everything we do! Am I right? Ya feel me?

First! A Warning & Disclaimer:

You must be very careful & do your own research yourself on which stones are safe to place in anything you will be ingesting!! There are some stones that can be  toxic. Some may contain copper, aluminum, lead, etc. I know a fellow crystal healer who fell ill from accidentally ingesting highly toxic stibnite due it containing lead and antimony. So due your own due diligence & be careful. You may want to consult my Toxic Stones Page here. Since there are over 4500 minerals there is no way to list them all but that page is a good start.

Let’s get to it!

So the short answer to the above page title is YES! We absolutely can use crystals and stones to prepare foods & medicines of all sorts.

Is Your Citrine Real or Fake Citrine + Does it Matter?

Crystals are remarkable and glorious gifts from Mother Earth. Aren’t they? Well, what does fake citrine have to do with all of this?

And we all love citrine. Right? But do you know if your citrine is real or fake citrine…

and should you care?

Some crystal peeps prefer their crystals to be all-natural; as they were found in Mother Nature, in the raw.

citrine real fake, fake citrineOthers may be drawn to the beauty of crystals that have been enhanced in some way but they may be totally unaware that they have been artificially altered. Maybe the crystals have been molecularly bonded, irradiated, tumbled, cut, polished, or even heat-treated in a lab. Now, I’m saying “lab” in this post for ease & flow but often times the heating we’re talking about here isn’t done in a lab at all. It’s usually done in a dusty warehouse by the miners themselves; no lab coats or anything. Just keepin’ it real for ya. 😉

Lab-heated citrine seems to be a sore spot with many. So much so that over the years as I received many questions about it I’ve created a few … Read More

Will my crystals still be powerful if they faded in the sunlight?

I love this recent question I received recently about crystals fading in the sunlight. It covered many angles. LURVE IT! It’s a loaded question and — right up my geo-geek ally!

Q: You mentioned not to put certain crystals that are very strongly pigmented in the sun, because they fade. Why does the pigment fade in the sun, and how does that affect the crystal if it does fade? Is the pigment related to the quantity of the mineral inside the crystal? And if so would the difference in pigment in a crystal affect how well it performs? i.e. If I get a piece of amethyst that is only lightly pigmented, does that mean a heavier pigmented amethyst would outperform the lighter one (i.e. it is of better quality?)

crystals fade in sunlightA:

Well, why some colors fade really has to do with photon physics or particle physics. Oh yeah! I said “PHYSICS” …and you’re gonna like it!

First, let’s simply explain what a photon is.
