amethyst

Let’s talk about Amethyst healing properties, correspondences, and meanings.

This is going to be a really comprehensive geological & a metaphysical conversation about probably every kind of amethyst you can think of, every kind you’ve heard of, including everything I know about amethyst.
Question of the Day:
Was Amethyst your first crystal? Yes or no?
Please go ahead and answer this in the comments at the bottom of this page.

Amethyst
Amethyst is a really popular mineral because we all love the beautiful, striking purple color, right?

For many of us, it’s usually our very first crystal or what attracts us to the crystal realm.

Amethyst is really just the purple variety of quartz. I’ll explain what makes it different than clear quartz below.

Spiritually Enhancing
Amethyst is spiritually enhancing, that’s another reason why so many of us love it and it’s a favorite. It’s also spiritually protective as well, so that’s a property of amethyst that’s very important.

If you need to be or want to be spiritually protected or physically protected for various reasons or you just want to go into a healing session or maybe a meditation and be spiritually protected while you’re doing that, then bring amethyst along with you for the ride.

It’s all about that protection and divine connection.
Chakras
Amethyst works closely with the third eye chakra and the crown chakra. It’s all about calming energy, so it’s great for bringing into the bedroom or a healing space.  Plus it’s great for the release of addictions.  That’s another important property or correspondence of amethyst.

It enhances the work of the third eye and works closely with the pituitary and pineal gland. Plus it helps you connect more deeply and more easily with your spiritual self, so connecting you more easily to your higher self. It enables a stronger connection to our spiritual side.

If you’re feeling like you’re lacking in that area, work with amethyst.

Bring it into your life, just wearing it or having it in your space or meditating with it or doing healing sessions with it or doing a crystal grid with it, because a lot of times people when they’re new to crystals, and when I say, “Work with it,” they’re like, “What do you mean, work with it? What does that mean?” Those are just some examples.

Amethyst enhances and invites that spiritual energy in.

I like that it really invites in that energy of being more spiritual, but also while being protective at the same time because a lot of times we forget that side of things. It’s got that added benefit of being very calming, so it’s, again, a favorite to work with while meditating.

Additionally, if you need a boost of willpower while trying to break free of any sort of addiction, whether it’s an addiction to social media or to soda, or drugs, or alcohol or anything else.

Or if you feel something is impacting you in a negative way or what we consider a bad habit, amethyst is a popular stone for working with for breaking those habits and, again, bringing those relaxing, calming energies to you while you’re working on that.
Meditation
Now any amethyst helps you to focus more on your meditations and eliminate or get rid of that monkey mind while meditating. It’s not going to eradicate it entirely, but it’s going to assist. As a tool and a support. That’s what I feel crystals are; an ally, a tool, a support.

All that stuff that happens during meditation, and it’s supposed to happen, but the goal usually with meditation, is to empty your mind and just allow those thoughts, instead of grabbing hold of them or having them grab a hold of you and getting stuck in them and next thing you know, you’re all about the thought instead of the meditation.

Instead, you allow those thoughts to just float away like a leaf on a river and allow your brain to accept the benefits of not thinking of all those things, or at least not thinking of them deeply.

Amethyst entrains with our electromagnetic field, or some of us call it our aura so that we become calmer.

We vibrate or become a vibrational match to its frequency so that we are in alignment with it.
That’s the whole point in working with crystals, is to become a vibrational match … to get into an alignment with their vibrational frequency.
Certainly, that happens with any of the crystals that we’re working with, but if you’re looking for the correspondences I just talked about and you want to become a vibrational match while working with the amethyst, then bring it into your electromagnetic field.

Some say it extends out infinitely, but it extends most strongly within a four-foot radius.  So if you want to use your arms & fully extend them out, then imagine your electromagnetic field extends out like that all around your body in all directions, you’ve got the strongest radius right there.

Amethyst Geology
Let’s talk a little bit of geology and identification of different types of amethyst.

A lot of people ask me how to tell the amethyst fake from the genuine.

Yes, amethyst can be faked. I’m going to give you lots of basic geological information here to help you figure it out, but if you really want to dig in and you’re interested in learning more about identifying your crystals, I can’t give that all to you here. I highly recommend my class elective, Crystal Savvy. I really get into the identification of crystals in there, so you learn how to empower yourself to do that for yourself.
Where does most Amethyst come from?
Amethyst comes from many different locals around Mama Earth, which is what makes it really more of an affordable crystal and ones that are least likely to be fake because it’s so widely available.

There’s almost no reason to fake amethyst.  Yeah, some people are faking it, but I don’t consider it a widespread issue.

The most popular locals for amethyst are different parts of the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Brazil, and Uruguay.

There are huge amounts of amethyst in Brazil and Uruguay in the basalt flow vugs or voids. There are these weird vugs … maybe like a pocket of air was there and amethyst grew in it and in the fissures. Can you imagine that?

I remember there was a scene in the movie The Core, right in the dead middle center of that DVD … I remember this because I used to teach my science class this and I used to fast-forward to that one section in the DVD … They go down under the earth. It’s imaginary. Nobody’s done this, but they go into a deep, deep vug or a basalt flow void. It’s just filled with amethyst crystals, a giant, huge void and they walk in, and it’s so cool.

So there are huge deposits in South America, and also in Africa.  There’s enough material there to keep amethyst’s price affordable, and so it’s less likely to fake it.

However, I have seen some deeply dyed … I’m sorry, in my opinion, disgusting amethyst that you just rub your fingers on the back of it and the dye will come off in your hands. That dye dissipates very quickly.

I have yet to figure out exactly what kind of dye. I think I heard it was a food-grade dye or clothing dye that they use on some geodes, milky quartz geodes or something like that. It’s on the back of the matrix and it just rubs off on everything and it fades really, really quickly.

Just like all quartz, amethyst has a Mohs hardness of seven. All quartz is a seven, so relatively hard. It’s not the hardest like a diamond, but it will scratch things if you move it across a piece of glass for example.
Where does the purple color come from?
It comes from trace amounts of iron inclusions in quartz.

You might not think that because if you think of rusty iron, it’s a rusty color, but the amethyst color comes from iron. There are just trace amounts of it. That’s all that’s necessary.

Then there’s another component that’s necessary; you’ve got the trace amounts of iron in the quartz and intense radiation, gamma rays from radiative sources like radioactive elements in the earth that are in the host rock.

The first step in amethyst getting its purple color, it’s a series of steps that begins during the crystal growth, at the very beginning when it first starts to grow and it’s gathering up that trace bit of iron. Then after the crystallization begins, the gamma rays begin irradiating the iron and viola, you get the purple color.

The most intense purple color is usually seen at the apex, at the point.

Then there’s the really deep Uruguayan amethyst. It’s like 50 shades of purple!  There’s a wide range of purple colors.

Types of Amethyst
Next let’s talk about the various types of amethyst.
Geodes
A geode’s going to be a smaller hollow or vug, or a void, filled with the crystals. That’s known as a geode. If it’s flat, it really isn’t a geode and let me get into why that is.  It was probably cut from a large geode. The large geodes are also known as cathedrals.  They are called cathedrals because they look like big steeples on a cathedral and they’re often cut in half and cut open so that it displays the crystals inside.

Now, if the crystals inside are really small, really little, then that’s called a Druze. A lot of people call it druzy. The proper geological term is Druze. The E at the end is silent, but some people … a lot of people call it druzy now, so that’s just become part of the common nomenclature, so we go with it, right?

The tall amethyst geodes, like I have in my sacred space, those are great for living spaces because they’re large and they can emanate a lot of energy. Large geodes are wonderful for radiating good amounts of energy into a space and really making the space feel good.

But be prepared, they’re pricey. The larger they are, the pricier they are. I mean, it’s rarer to find them large and it’s costly to ship those pieces too.

Vera Cruz Amethyst
Next, there’s Vera Cruz amethyst. They’re very, very light in color and they have excellent clarity.

Vera Cruz Amethyst is known for being really good third eye developers if you’re looking to develop your third eye chakra.

They help induce theta brainwaves, which are a higher amplitude, lower frequency brainwave than alpha or beta.

Beta is what we’re in all the time. It’s the brainwave I’m in right now, you’re probably in right now. If you’re in a more relaxed state, you go into alpha; but theta is a higher amplitude than that but lower frequency.

When you’re in a daydream state, that’s often a theta brainwave state.

It’s that state of mind you go into like when you’re in the shower and you download those really good ideas or maybe if you’re driving or walking, you get into a very positive mental state.

When you’re in those places and you kind of zone out, or you’re daydreaming and you get into this positive mental state and you get to download these really amazing ideas. That’s theta brainwave state. If you want to be in that state more, Vera Cruz amethyst is your buddy.

It helps to awaken and kind of poke the pineal gland, kind of wake it up.

It used to be, in my experience, a go-to crystal for calming the mind and an excellent stone to work with when meditating, to get rid of that monkey mind; however, with the recent cosmic energy shifts, (I talked about this in another blog post recently), this doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

For me, Vera Cruz amethyst allows more flow of ideas, so more of theta brainwave state, not so much the calming of the mind; but if I’m looking for that flow of ideas, even during a meditation, Vera Cruz amethyst is my go-to for that.

Maybe it’s because the amplitude in the crystal itself is a bit higher now due to these cosmic energy shifts. I don’t know. I don’t have the answer, but it’s something that I’ve noted and I’ve noted with others.

Do you find this is true for you? Let me know in the comments. I would love to know. I have asked, though, a lot, and it seems like it is the case for the majority of us.
Uruguay Amethyst
Uruguayan amethyst has a characteristic grape jelly, deep, deep, deep, dark color. Sometimes it even looks black. It’s the same energy as other amethysts, but more intense. For those asking if color intensity makes a difference, in this case, I would say yes, a slight difference.

I really love the energy of Uruguayan amethyst. It’s got this really deep, dark royal purple color, very vibrant, very rich. I find that the energy is just so much more effective from these deeply colored Uruguayan amethysts when it comes to geodes.
Spirit Quartz
Spirit quartz is also known as cactus quartz. If you’re looking for relief from OCD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, this is a good one to work with.

Also for fear in general, because OCD is a symptom of a fear, right?

If you’re looking to connect with your higher self while also getting rid of fears, clearing the pathway of anything that may come up on your journey to up-leveling yourself and connecting with your higher self, work with spirit quartz or cactus quartz.

It’s also great for purification, again, protection, and evolving yourself spiritually, like any amethyst is.
Super Seven
Many of you asked about super seven. Well, super seven is not really a type of amethyst. People think it is because it has the general color of amethyst.

It’s actually seven different minerals all conglomerated into one stone. The seven minerals are; amethyst, cacoxenite, clear quartz, goethite, rutile, smokey quartz, and lepidocrocite. It’s not a type of amethyst. However it includes amethyst along with six other minerals, so I’m not going to get deep into super seven here.
Ametrine
Now, let’s talk about ametrine. Ametrine has an iced tea hint to it, maybe a little bit of orange.  Ametrine is not an easy one to find.  It combines the energy of amethyst and citrine, natural citrine.

It’s great for if you need assistance with making decisions.

Ametrine is also great for just clearing your mind. It’s not only good during meditation, but to make a clear, sound decision, you want to clear your mind, right?

If you are looking to clear and cleanse your spirit, ametrine is great for that, but it’s always my go-to when there’s any kind of decision that needs to be made.
Chevron Amethyst
There’s always a V-shaped pattern, a banded pattern of white in the chevron amethyst.

It alternates amethyst and milky quartz. That’s what that V-shape is. It’s made out of milky quartz.

What this is demonstrating is really intense color zoning, and color zoning is obvious in many different types of amethyst.

The color zoning, this V-shape, is expressing the crystal’s hexagonal sacred geometry because it’s a six-sided crystal. All quartz is. It’s got that basic hexagonal sacred geometry, so the color zoning, the very intense color zoning of the purple and then the milky quartz, is expressing that inherent hexagon shape or the sacred geometry within the crystal.

They all have the same metaphysical properties as regular amethyst, but you know, I always say when I’m giving you these meanings and correspondences that you really need to experiment with them for yourself and see what they bring up for you.

For you, maybe chevron amethyst is very different from a regular amethyst geode. You really have to experiment and try it out for yourself.  Do the work yourself, okay?

I know a lot of us just want to get the answer from somewhere else and just go with that, but I can’t stress enough you really want to do it for yourself and not rely on the books and the courses, even if it’s my course.

You want to do the work for yourself and see how it works with you personally because we’re all individual and we’re all slightly different and we all bring a different flavor to the work that we’re doing.
Brandberg Amethyst
Brandbergs; I show you a few examples in the video.  One’s got some very light coloration in it, very, very light. Alternating zones of usually smokey quartz with amethyst.

Another one is more deeply colored. Often, there are phantoms, so you see the color zoning, the phantoms, the points inside. That’s showing the punctuated growth rates, so the crystals slow down for a little bit. The coloration, whether it’s a smokey quartz or the amethyst, kind of collected there in the area, and then it started growing again.

Phantoms are very common for Brandbergs. Enhydro bubbles of water are also very common for Brandbergs.

Brandbergs have some common characteristics. There are lots of crystal formation characteristics. For example, windows, phantoms, enhydro bubbles, time links, what we call S-faces. I talk all about that in the Crystal Formations class elective.

They’re very glassy with very good clarity.

Brandberg crystals are known as master healers. They can help provide great relief from anxiety and powerful addictions.

If you’re feeling energetically exhausted, Brandberg is your crystal for that. Also, a broken heart. Suffering from a broken heart, which I’m sure all of us have at one point or another, Brandberg crystals are great for that.

And it is Brandberg, not Brandenberg. I’ve seen it misspelled, even in some crystal books. Brandberg is named after the mountain where it comes from in Namibia.
Caring for Amethyst
The color of many deeply pigmented crystals like amethyst run the risk of fading by being exposed to direct sunlight or any bright display lights, especially if you’re displaying your crystals under UV lights over a long period of time.

That can cause your amethyst to fade.

It seems like UV light is specifically the fading culprit for collectors. It can be natural UV light from the sun too, or manmade UV light, or halogen lights if you’re using halogen bulbs. That’s another culprit.

You want to keep your deeply pigmented crystals away from any kind of UV source, so keep it away from the window sill. Keep it away from the sun. The brighter the light, the faster it fades out our crystals, so sunlight and halogen are the worst.

Also, certain crystals, I noticed, fade more easily than others.

Brandbergs fade easily. I have one that I keep in a crystal curio cabinet, and I used to very easily see the phantom. Now I can barely see it, so I’ve noticed the Brandbergs fade more easily than others of my amethysts.

Long-term low-level heating like the sun changes amethyst to essentially a colorless quartz.  Whereas fast heat like from an oven, would turn it into citrine. Basically, you want to watch out for the sunlight and the UV lights and all of that.

Some collectors go to the point of keeping them in the dark, putting them in a little case, covering them up with some cloth, and keeping them out of the light all the time if it’s a very special piece.

Some amethyst pales out, like I said, really, really quickly, and some very slowly. It depends on the oxidation state of the iron.

Remember I said there were trace amounts of iron? Little molecules of iron are known as ions. It depends on their number of electrons. It depends on the oxidation state of the iron ion that’s specifically in that amethyst, but you can’t tell what type of iron ion an amethyst has before you buy it, right? That’s getting really heady, and I still haven’t figured it out. I just think that Brandberg has a specific kind of ion that’s more unstable that allows it to fade more easily.

Irradiated quartz is more prone to color fading.  It doesn’t matter if the irradiation is natural or synthetic.  (For example, pink quartz.  Not rose quartz. I talked about that in my rose quartz blog post. That’s another one that fades really, really quickly).

The purple color in Amethyst is caused by irradiation, so it’s vulnerable. Also, smokey quartz caused by synthetic irradiation is another one that fades really, really, fast, but that’s another topic.

So, be careful when leaving your crystals out in your garden or your window sill. I do know from some students that leave their amethyst out in the garden all the time, have not faded. Again, it depends on that iron ion.

I still don’t know the method to figure out what kind of iron ion it has.  So I would say be on the safe side. Even the intense sunlight behind the window in your living room, if it can reach your crystals, might do some damage.

Don’t keep them on window sills. The window glass does filter out some ultraviolet components, but I recommend you keep the crystals out of direct sunlight. That’s true for all quartz varieties whose color is bright, so smokey quartz, citrine, pink quartz, not rose quartz.

Someone asked me if LED lights can harm our crystals. I’m not going to say, “No way, no how,” but there’s no science that backs it up.  Hence at the moment my answer is no. LED lights should have no effect on the molecules unless you’ve purchased special UV LED lights, so UV, ultraviolet, we want to keep that away from the amethyst.
Does Darker or lighter amethyst have an effect on the crystal’s energy potency?
I don’t feel color intensity usually has anything to do with the energy from amethyst, except for that Uruguayan amethyst. I do feel like it’s a little more intense than regular amethyst.  Look at Vera Cruz amethyst or Brandbergs they can be very light, but they’re quite powerful.

Therefore, usually, I don’t think that the intensity of the color has anything to do with that.

So tell me … was Amethyst your first crystal?  Please share your answer in the comments below. And don’t forget to grab your free recipe and whip yourself up an Amethyst Latte!

Hey hey, Crystal Hottie!

Here we are with another “Crystal Healer Interview” today.

And just in case you’re not familiar with my Crystal Healer Interviews, these are guest blog posts that allow me to present crystal healing & therapy to you from another perspective (other than my own). And we’ve got a few Hibiscus Moon Certified Crystal Healers & Advanced Crystal Masters who are so generously sharing their stories with us here on my blog.

I’m super-thrilled to introduce you to Certified Crystal Healer, Christina Borger as she shares how she does crystal therapy. She steps outside the usual recommendations and teaches us a bit about her unique methods. 🙂

♥♥♥
What crystal has had the biggest effect on you?
That has actually changed pretty dramatically depending on where I’m at in life.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have been around a good variety of stones and crystals from an early age and when I look back at what I was drawn to and when, it gives an interesting chronicle of my spiritual/emotional development.

For instance, when I was a kid I was really into Tiger’s Eye. At that point in my life I felt really vulnerable and exposed. The tiger’s eye made me feel strong and safe, like I could handle whatever came my way. This was way before I had any idea that crystals could be used that way. I just knew that I loved them and it made me feel good to hold them and look at them.

As a teenager, I lost interest in the tiger’s eye and I was really drawn to amethyst and rose quartz. That was definitely the point when I needed the most calming and love.♥ It was also the time when I was really starting to notice my psychic abilities and I do feel like having amethyst around me enhanced that. The love of Amethyst has stayed with me for a long time. Although I don’t use it in my practice or on myself any more often than I use other stones, it is the one that I seem to end up surrounding myself in. My entire house is filled with Amethyst cathedrals and plates!

As a younger adult, I was very drawn to moss agate. I still am to a good extent. I feel like this was the time when the Earth and Elementals were trying to draw me back after a long absence.  As I child, I’d had a very deep connection to the Earth and was outside constantly. Even now, there is nothing that happens to me that a little time outside won’t fix.

But I had moved into a different sort of spiritual practice that was taking me deep within myself and I was doing a significant amount of self-healing in addition to exploring the mysteries of the Universe.
I feel like the Moss Agate was calling me to not forget that my home is here on the Earth as well as in the Stars and telling me that I needed to ground myself in the Earth and Elemental realms as part of my spiritual evolution too.
These days I’m primarily drawn to Danburite. Only time will tell where it leads, but I have been working more and more with my Spirit Guides and the Ascended Masters and the Danburite has been very helpful to me in making those connections.
How do you navigate being a crystal healer and a mama on a daily basis?
Being a crystal healer really enhances my time with my daughter (and her friends!).

My daughter (now 6) is growing up in a house where grabbing a crystal for almost anything is commonplace. She gives them to her friends, uses them on her dolls, makes and drinks gem elixirs, and uses crystals herself when she has issues. She also sleeps with a giant rose quartz heart and an angel carved from angelite, which keeps her from being scared of the dark.

Since I have a rock shop as well, I’m always giving out free crystals to the neighborhood kids when I have something I think they might like. Most are not aware of the metaphysical properties and I don’t try to tell them about them either. I think at that age, unless you live in a home where these practices are considered normal and accepted, there is no need to foster anything more than the genuine love and appreciation for the crystals that they can discover within themselves.

The kids at my daughter’s school, however, are a different story. She goes to a Waldorf school and most of the families are at least open to alternative therapies and many practice them themselves. The teachers all have amethyst cathedrals and other large crystals in the classroom and often borrow them from my store to use. For instance, right now I have these huge chunks of black tourmaline that are filled with mica inclusions and I am loaning them out to the teachers who are going to use them in the classroom for grounding and transmuting negativity.

What is the primary way you utilize crystals in your practice?
I will do chakra balancing layouts from time-to-time, especially when a client is new and I’m getting to know them, but I really prefer to pick one specific issue and really focus on working through it. In that circumstance I will typically chose one large crystal in conjunction with essential oils, Reiki and guided visualization. How exactly this all works together varies from client to client.

Here’s an example; I have a really big piece of rough green calcite that clients with heart chakra issues respond really well to. It’s too big to place on the body, so I will have the client lay down on his/her side and I will place the stone on the massage table right up against the heart chakra.♥

While they are relaxing into the energy, I will massage their hands and feet (I am a licensed massage therapist) with whatever oil feels appropriate. I often use “Heart Aroma Oil” by Mountain Rose Herbs, or the “Joy” or “Release” essential oil blends by Young Living. The massage and aromas really help the client to relax and let in the healing energy.

At that point, I will usually do some Reiki or walk them through a guided meditation if I feel called to do so. I keep this process relatively short, because I have found that many clients will actually start to feel a dull ache in the chakra if I let them sit with the stone for 20 minutes or more. I think it’s because the energy of the stone is so strong that it will cause them to release more than they may be ready to, so I keep this treatment to 5-15 minutes depending on the client.

With that type of session, I’d also use a really strong grounding stone like lodestone, because the healing can be so intense. After the session I will typically give the client a drink that is a decoction of herbs (specific to their needs) infused with rose quartz and clear quartz. With heart chakra issues I generally prefer a Lunar infusion, if possible, because it is more soothing to the emotional body.

Lately, I’ve also been really drawn to using opals with clients.

Up until the last couple of years, I hadn’t really considered using them, but now they seem to come up a lot for me and I have really enjoyed using them in my practice. These are “common opals”, not “precious opals” which have a much more intense energy. Common opals have lovely, gentle energies and are great for using with sensitive people and children. In fact, I often find myself using pink opal with children as much if not more often than rose quartz.
Opals are particularly good for people under emotional stress as their energy is very nurturing and supportive.
My favorite one to use is the beautiful Violet Flame Opal. This stone is amazing for transmuting negative emotions. So many people have hurt or anger or tension in relationships that they deal with on a daily basis. The Violet Flame Opal works to turn these negative emotions into higher emotions of love, forgiveness, and open-mindedness.

For most, just sitting with the stone for a bit and gazing into its color is enough to bring about a change in attitude. But when a more intense healing session is called for I will place:

  • a Black Tourmaline in the root chakra area for grounding
  • a Violet Flame Opal on both the Heart and Crown Chakras
  • On the Sacral, Solar Plexus, and Third Eye chakras I will place a double terminated Quartz point.

You could also place a Violet Flame Opal on the Third Eye chakra in place of the quartz point. I make that call on a case-by-case basis.
What is your go-to crystal for grounding?
With clients, I often end up using Hematite. Not always, but it is the one I feel called to most often.

For myself though, it’s definitely moss agate. I know that’s not a stone that many use for grounding purposes, but I think that is unfortunate because it is really amazing!

For me, it’s the second best thing to getting out in nature for bringing me back to earth and into balance.
I have a really big tumbled piece and I love to hold it and look into all the beautiful green and blue and white. It makes me feel so calm and connected to the Earth, and the appearance of the stone itself is amazingly Earth-like!

I’ve also always been drawn to Elementals. I think this is why it’s the best “grounder” for me because I definitely feel a big increase in Elemental energy around me whenever I use it and that is very soothing for me.
What 3 energy-work or spirituality books are you loving right now?
I am a huge fan of Rudolf Steiner. It would be hard to describe all the ways that his work has helped me to grow spiritually. A good first read for those who are unfamiliar with his work would be the book, “How to Know Higher Worlds“:

As for healing work, I have found “The Key to Self Liberation: 1,000 Diseases and Their Psychological Origins” by Christiane Beerlandt to be absolutely indispensable.

She goes into great detail about the underlying emotional issues behind each illness, which is extremely helpful when choosing the right stone or method for yourself or a client. And, I have never had an instance where she was incorrect about the underlying problem. I was fortunate enough to pick this book up about 3 years ago when it was only $35. However, it is now out of print and if you are lucky enough to find a copy you will pay a pretty penny for it. If you do find a copy though, its worth its weight in gold! Maybe if enough of us start asking, they will bring it back into circulation!

I am also really loving “Hands of Light” by Barbara Brennan. Its full of insights into the root emotional causes of illnesses and blockages and gives detailed guidance on healing techniques. If you like to use a pendulum on chakras, she also has an amazing guide on what the exact movements of the pendulum mean for the way in which the chakra is moving or blocked.

What does it mean when your crystal cracks or breaks?
It can be pretty distressing when a crystal cracks, right? And many of you want to know … What does it mean?

It could be just plain ole’ science & physics that did it like a heavy impact or thermal shock: extreme hot to cold or cold to hot.

But sometimes a stone or crystal just breaks…with no explanation.

So then we have to look at energy.

Read on for my take on this!

What does it mean when your crystal disappears?
So what does it mean when a crystal disappears? Just up & goes AWOL?

  • Sometimes people will find their crystals later & it will be completely unexplained. Like the crystal manifested itself in a little bag that was locked up somewhere in a safety deposit box – something really, really wild, like that…& it’s completely unexplained. Unless of course you had amnesia & don’t remember doing such a thing. ?
  • Or sometimes, the crystal is found by someone else in a different place entirely; not even in the same vicinity.
  • Or sometimes you never find the crystal again – its just up & left. It’s gone. It has disappeared, never to be heard from again.

This is a very common question I get asked on a fairly frequent basis and there are a few ways to answer it…

Which 1 is your favorite on this list? And Why?  I’d love to hear in the comments below. 😀

Crystal Blessings,

My Current Favorites | Crystals & Otherwise

Hibiscus Moon amethyst, blogging, Crystal Goodness, Videos 51 Comments

It’s been a while since I’ve done a video like this … and I’ve noticed these have become quite popular now…for people to do “monthly favorites”

Personally, I kind of waffle back & forth on if I should do one of these again OR not.

It would be great if you could definitely let me know in the comments  (down at the bottom of this page), what you think… if I should do more of this? If this is sparkly enough for you?  Also, if you have recommendations for other stuff I should check out, please share with me!

First Favorite!  You know it has to be a crystal to kick this off right?
Crystals
My favorite crystal right now is Papagoite, and I just finally got a hold of some.:D

This is a difficult mineral to find, much like Ajoite.  You may have heard me go on and on about Ajoite being very difficult to find in a recent blog post, They both come from the same area; the Messina mine in South Africa, but Papagoite is even more rare than Ajoite!

I’ve just recently got two pieces;  one had a very little little bit of the Papagoite tell-tale color in it (bright blue) and the other piece has a little too with a bit more color saturation.

This blue is really hard to describe. It’s very vibrant. It’s less green than Ajoite and the top one in the above pic actually has a phantom within.

Phantoms allow you to move you to the next level…deeper levels of meditation, for example. Phantoms are a natural phenomenon that I teach more about in my Advanced Crystal Masters course + I also created this blog + video about phantom crystals quite some time ago over here. (be forewarned…that’s some really old content from me!)
Rings Please
Then I have my favorite jewelry at the moment.  Yup, in the vid I’m wearing a lot of different jewelry!  Some bracelets made of coral, some carnelian…but my favorites right now are my tiger’s eye ringsI really love these rings.

The one on my pointer finger I just found on clearance in a store for just 5 bucks!  Sparkle Score!!!

And my other tiger’s eye ring (on my ring finger) I had made by an artist on Etsy who unfortunately no longer has her shop or I’d tell you where to get it. 🙁

They’re both Big & Chunky….just like I like ’em.

Aromatherapy Scentsation (+ crystals of course)

Next fav is an essential oil blend called Terrashield made by doTERRA.

BTW, I don’t endorse any particular essential oil brand. I just look for high quality 100% pure essential oils, preferably organic, sustainably crafted & fair trade.

So, Terrashield is a bug repellent blend and right now, where I live, there’s a lot of little bugs called “no-see-‘ums”.  They’re worse than mosquitoes with their bite that hurt instantly!  A couple of days later you get little welts too. Lovely.

I like to use this Terrashield blend.  It’s really really effective for keeping them at bay. Then I use a little Amethyst along with it; a great insect repelling combo!

I also like to get those little bottles of gemstone chips, you know, the ones that nobody ever knows what to do with?  Well, they’re great for putting a few chips into your essential oil so you can create a special little crystal-infused blend.
Crystal Hottie

My next favorite is actually a Crystal Hottie. ? She’s one of our Facebook commenters & she also happens to be one of our Certified Crystal Healers…and she’s always coming over to my Facebook page and leaving lovely beautiful comments. She’s really active on there…the wonderful Terry Hicks CCH!

Whooohoo! Terry, you’re one of my favorites right now because you always leave such joyful, wonderful, positive comments on page that I am so grateful to receive.

If I’m ever not feeling right in some way, I go over to my Facebook page and I’m sure to see a comment from you & they’re always so sweet, lovely & uplifting, so thank you for that!♥
Mermaid Mojo

Then we have my new mermaid stamp.  Yes, I know, nothing to do with crystals!

I found this mermaid beauty in a local crafty shop.  It was kind of pricey @ $9.50 but it’s the cutest thing ever!  And, I’ve been stamping this thing all over the freakin’ place.

It’s kind of big and obnoxious for a stamp but she is a mermaid…so it’s totally OK! ?

Hello?

Remember the old school telephone?  Those of you in my courses know that I harp on and on about getting zapped by electromagnetic radiation and electromagnetic fields,  and how we can use crystals to mitigate that

…but you know what?

Your cell phones are probably the worst culprit that you’re most susceptible to…really really bad to keep up to your ear all the time. Really.
Don’t use your cell phones for long conversations.  You just don’t want that shizzle right up near your head for long periods of time.
Best to minimize use with them as much as you can.

If you do have to have a long conversation on your mobile you can use something like this old school looking receiver and you plug it right into your cell phone! Takes care of that problem.

It comes in a variety of fun color options.  My brother actually gave mine to me. Thoughtful guy!

When I’m at home I have a landline,  so I don’t use my cell phone for any at-home telephone convos. But if you do…if you think you’re going to need to use your cell phone for a long period of time this is a great solution. By using this little sucker, you can keep the cell phone away from your head, at a safer distance.  Not safe, but safer.
Kind of like safe sex there is no such thing as safe sex, there’s safer sex.  😉

Again nothing to do with crystals…just a favorite.
Crystal Bio-Belt
Back to the crystals. I’ve talked about this in a video before but it’s still a favorite and I’ve been using it a lot lately so I have to tell you about it again.

It’s the bio-belt made by the same company that makes bio-mat but they stopped making them for a while.  So I have mine and people would ask me where I got it and I couldn’t refer them anywhere b/c they weren’t making them at the time.

But now, they are back at it and offering it again!

This is a belt filled with gem stones of all different kinds of crystals.  Unlike the bio-mat which is all amethyst, the bio-belt has all kinds of different crystals and you get to wrap it around you like a belt.

You do need to plug it in & initially need to be near an outlet when using this.  But then…you can unplug & just get up and walk around after it’s heated up. However, I’ll often use it when I’m sitting at my desk.

And, once again, addressing those electromagnetic fields…they’ve taken care of that b/c the bio-belt has a special electromagnetic frequency mitigator that makes it so that the electromagnetic frequencies are harmless to you. Yup, very cool!

It also has a little controller attached to it so you can change the temp or turn the power off completely & continue to receive the gemmy benefits. Yep, after it’s heated up for like five minutes you can turn it off and its stays warm for up to an hour later.

I absolutely love this thing because it’s portable, allowing you to get stuff done while you’re still getting the crystal healing treatment from the vibrational frequencies of the crystals….and you’re not required to lie down…unless you want to.

Silica Gel

And the last favorite thing I want to talk about today is Silica Gel.  There are different brands, so you want to go ahead and check the reviews & make sure it’s one that you’d like to use.

This is 1 kind that I use…

and then there’s also another one that I like from Earth Shift products here…

Yes, it’s the same type of silica that quartz crystals are made of: silicon dioxide!. 🙂

I take this internally & use it many smoothie & gem elixir recipes.

In 1 tablespoon you get 420 milligrams of silica!  I like to take this mineral supplement daily, one tablespoon daily.

The reason I like taking this is because all your cell walls are made of silica and it’s been noted in scientific studies that people who have higher levels of silica actually stave off lots of different dis-eases. Check it out for yourself!

Silica directly helps with:

  • connective tissue
  • hair
  • skin
  • nails

***Now I want to hear from you please***

In the comments below can you please tell me:

Should I do videos like this every once in a while?  A little more often?  How sparkly are my Current Favorites? Did I really go too far off track with stuff that was unrelated to crystals, listed too many, do you want to hear more about that kind of stuff?  Or should we just keep it to crystals only?

Please let me know! Thank you!

Crystal Blessings,
