Ever get that nagging feeling that something is bubbling up inside of you needing to be said?

PLEASE NOTE: I’m taking a risk here again…but I feel it needs to be addressed. This of course, is my opinion. It doesn’t mean that my opinion is the best 1 or the only 1, it’s just mine, that’s all. Flaming will not be tolerated here. This is a negativity-free zone. Although I enjoy a healthy, respectful & mature debate be forewarned that any nasty, negative or demeaning comments here on MY BLOG will be promptly deleted so don’t waste your energy.
I recently had this feeling + a number of signs prompting me to get my opinion on this money matter out there into our community. I know many others have done this before but I wanted to add to the mix with my humble take on it since it seemed so many in my circle were/are having trouble around it.
Have you noticed this undercurrent belief in the new age/spiritual community that big abundance should not be made off of big dreams or anything to do with new age-y stuffs?
This whole “$ is a no-no & frowned upon” thinking?
I feel this thinking is powerfully keeping many in a false poverty mindset…unnecessarily.
A sure-fire way to sabotage yourself from ever being prosperous is to keep the embarrassment & shame around making money & charging what your worth. Yep, that will put the nail in the coffin for ya.
I’m also realizing that wishy-washy boundaries is all wrapped up with this money-thing. So, I’ve made it a small mission of mine to empower the spiritual community with FIRM BOUNDARIES.

MONEY and Spirituality
Yes, I feel money CAN be a vehicle for love, for our good intentions & a way to be of BIG service to others. I feel that money in the hands of conscious people is a magical catalust for change. Can we get our spiritual community to get over the idea that Money = Evil? Can we have more spiritual practices organized around making money & then HOW to use it to make those big changes?
Is it possible?

I don’t feel worthy
Hello Tami! Thank you for this article/vlog. I started a business and I’ve been in a negative disposition for the past few days and I normally turn to my crystals, cleansing to get me off of that situation but the effect is like very slow lately and I’m hating myself for feeling like this. This morning while browsing my FB feed, I passed by your post and read and watched your video. I think you’ve just shook me out of my negative thoughts. I still need to continue to work on it but I think I am back. You are right, we always focus on our wants and get frustrated if we don’t get them but it’s not what we need and Yes! Thank you so much for covering this subject so honestly and sincerely. I have come from a background of charging is wrong, money is evil etc etc. I am learning and broadening my mindset to change for the better and this blog was exactly what I needed to put a lot of things into perspective. Especially the difference between greed and prosperity, it makes perfect sense. Its not gaining the prosperity that makes it ‘evil’ its what you do with it after. Do you share or do you keep it all to yourself! I have a huge, once in a lifetime event coming up and I am using it as the launchpoint of the new me, to change my mindset about many things and do things differently when I get back. I’m so excited and inspired and relieved, thank you very much. ?

This is a big challenge for me as I work on growing my healing practice in an authentic way, but to hear from someone who’s already successful that it’s okay to charge, raise rates, etc. helps me in working to changeover to an abundant mindset.

I think anything that has a “spiritual” context to it, no matter what that means to a particular person, is seriously lagging behind in the reality of the economic wold we currently live in. I understand in times past those who chose to follow the path of spiritual counseling were often supported in some way by the community they served for basic necessity. In our age of diversity that’s an unrealistic idea that just hasn’t moved forward. Especially in this type of community where specific knowledge takes so much time and education to even be able to be in an advisory role. I think if we were to strip the spiritual word away it really is a “sevice” industry and people will charge according to the level of expertise they have as in any other service. I have struggled with this my whole life especially actually deciding to follow my bliss/heart and receive money in return. I have always lived from heart center – always WAY too caring of other people and their feelings and what they think of me, bending over backwards to please others and make them feel good, over my own feelings to the point of detriment for me and my family and our financial situation. I have always given away everything for free and when I finally began asking to be payed for my products/services, I was considered a bitch and was actually told that I was “all about the money” despite giving away everything for free and living in poverty most of my life – Really! Hmm…
After MANY years of spiritual study and law of attraction, self healing, energy healing, etc., I finally believe from a deep place that I am worthy and so is everything in creation.
I have a positive living/energy correction practice and I have had people accuse me of being selfish (although I have spent hours upon hours of my time with them without charge or mention of the time I spent with them for free when I should have charged (others in my field would tell them to schedule a payed session without hesitation) – I broke many of my boundaries of not “working” on the weekends & evenings, during vacations & continued giving it all away free repeatedly and finally decided it was enough. I used to feel intimidated and fear when others would ask me what I do and how much I charge. I have had people’s jaw drop, felt the energy in the room shift and people’s perception of me shift when I share how much I charge (after they ask). I was afraid people would actually ask me my rate, and even though it is lower than others in my specific field, I always felt insecure even though I knew it was well worth more, & what I offer personally and I always go above and beyond. I have had numerous people tell me that I am much more than a healer or therapist, and how amazing they feel after our connection, yet, they complained about the money and I felt like cringing when it came time to ask for my full payment for the services I rendered and they agreed upon. I had a friend tell me after I gifted her a session, that her sister felt that the session was so powerful because it was a gift. Really? That stung, and made me feel like there was no value in what I offered unless it was a free gift. The session I gifted helped her release a life long issue that controls her life and would have been the same outcome if I had been paid – however, I felt a calling inside my heart for almost 2 months to help her. I told her I would not do that again.)
My very supportive daughter who has heard me talk about spirituality & law of attraction for years, finally got mad and told me to STOP IT! She told me “this is your business! You have to look at it that way. Yes, you are a healer, yes you are loving, yes you are amazing at what you do, yes you are a “nice person”. But, THIS IS YOUR BUSINESS and you have to SET BOUNDARIES and keep them. You have to stop treating everyone like they are your friend, stop worrying about what they think of you, and stop giving everyone a discount or free services, because it makes THEM uncomfortable how much you charge. They chose to come to you. They picked you. They knew your price up front. They made the choice, signed the contract and you didn’t coerce them or twist their arm.” I offer free items on my website in addition.
She was right, and all that I learned through spiritual teachings, law of attraction and other sources, I knew I had more to heal in myself.
I really resonate with the information you share here, and just wanted to say Thank you! When we share with others, it not only uplifts them, but also sometimes gives them permission to ask for what they want when they feel like they can’t even ask. I Love helping others in their self healing journey, I brings me sheer Joy helping others feel uplifted and worthy and powerful and step into their authentic self. Not everyone is ready for it or resonates with it and that is OK.
It is also not wrong to want to have nice things for you and your family whether you are an energy healer, or a “nice person” or not – we all have desires. This was a big one for me also. I Love, Love, Love spreading gratitude and wealth energy through money as I receive more! I am not selfish with money at all! I feel it is an amazing way to express my gratitude to others for their goods and services and I am very generous with my healing and help others continuously even for free without them knowing. However, some will judge me when they see me driving down the road in a Corvette, because that is an intention I have had since I was a little girl and there’s nothing wrong with it, and it just feels way too good to drive! I am OK with that now, whether anyone else is OK with me driving a Corvette as a healer, is their healing journey. Blessings of Optimal Health & peace – Namaste

There’s an old saying – fair exchange is no robbery. I know it is fine to charge for spiritual services, to choose how much to charge, and to set firm boundaries. You are right about the ‘needy’ people. It is so important to respect yourself and your boundaries. If a healer/teacher gives away too much it definitely has terrible energetic consequences.
Sometimes we don’t value ourselves so we feel scared to pay for or charge more. I use a lot of free resources, and pay for what I know I really need. I am getting better at valuing myself and being able to charge for my services and pay generously for what I feel provides me good value. I am learning to raise my self worth and the worth I am willing to invest in myself. And I do it for myself a LOT too.
You are worth it, we are all worth it. It takes time to recognise our own worth and value. I think this is a hangover from the passing age, where self-sacrifice was required. but that’s over now. Blessings, kindness, generosity and abundance to all.
