Today’s post is about putting together a chakra stone set. You can put 1 together relatively inexpensively if you know what stones to go for.
Here’s a question that I recently received:
I’m putting together my chakra stone set & am curious if it’s best to use the same style/shape stone for the set? For example should they all be tumbled? Or can they be a mix of tumbled & points?
Also, when buying a pendulum, which stone is best? Should we use our intuition or is there one stone that is best for healing?
For your chakra set, it really won’t matter. Get what you can get. Natural is always best but sometimes you just can’t find them in that particular stone. If you have an easy choice though, always go natural! That being said, here’s an example set I usually recommend to all my students:
The stones pictured above are very easy to find & are inexpensice. I usually like to have a choice of 2 stones for each chakra on hand except for the crown here…no specific reason for that:
Root chakra (red): red jasper + hematite
Sacral chakra (orange but represented here by the brown bag): orange calcite & carnelian
Solar plexus chakra (yellow but represented here by the camel bag): citrine & tiger’s eye
Heart chakra (green): rose quartz & green aventurine
Throat chakra (blue): blue lace agate & sodalite
Third Eye chakra (indigo): amethyst & lepidolite
Crown chakra (white or light lilac but represented here by the black bag): clear quartz
I also have an amethyst pendulum pictured here for sensing energies & balancing each chakra (we teach how to do that in our course)
As for the pendulum, you don’t need amethyst…get what’s calling to you most. Yep, that’s what will work best for you!
And just in case you missed it, here’s my FREE Chakra Workshop:
Now, get to it Crystal Hottie! Go balance some chakras. 😀
Today, I bring to you another inspiring story to add GLITTER + SPARKLE to you day. This Crystal Healer interview is so filled with inspiration + BIG DREAMS that your motivation cup will overflow. That’s why I asked Crystalline Cohort, Karen Shaw to do this interview for us here today. She totally turned her life around & is living in her BLISS!
You can just drink up her sparkling energy from her photo alone!
Thank you Karen! Take it away: So, what brought you to the world of crystal healing?
My journey to the world of crystal healing was an unexpected one. A few years ago, the pharmaceutical company I worked for downsized, and I lost my longtime office job. A full time working mother of four, my confidence (and my identity) took a battering. With life as I knew it changing, I grappled with who I was and where I was going.
Then one day I passed my teenage son’s room and the eclectic collection of crystals on his dresser caught my eye. In the midst of various tumbles, there sat a small orange stone. Compelled to pick it up, I “borrowed” his crystal, which turned out to be orange calcite. I dubbed the stone “Little Rock” and carried it everywhere. Somehow, having Little Rock close lifted my spirits.
Fascinated and somewhat baffled by my reaction, I simply had to learn more. A few books and several crystals later, I still had more questions than answers. I realized I’d fallen in love with crystals, but did they really work on physical, mental and spiritual levels? In my quest for answers, destiny sent me straight to Hibiscus Moon Academy where I learned the science behind the magic and discovered my life’s passion.
What crystal has the biggest effect on you?
It depends on what day it is! I feel the pull of whichever stone being “calls” to me during a particular time-frame. I may feel compelled to work with amethyst one week, chrysanthemum stone another and then my empowering scepter quartz leaps off the shelf, demanding my attention.
When I hear the call, I listen closely as there’s always a message waiting to be unveiled.
At the moment, I’m working with a gorgeous white calcite sphere with rainbows. I meditate with her at night before slipping her under my pillow. She’s a gorgeous stone for dream facilitation and connecting with spirit.
What do others in your life think about the path you are on? How do you navigate being a crystal healer and a mama on a daily basis?
I am so blessed to have my family’s full support. My sister is a beautiful, spiritual light-worker who has encouraged and inspired me every step of the way. At the other end of the cheering squad is my husband, a PhD chemist. I enjoy a wonderful balance of “metaphysical meets science” between the two of them. As for my children, ages 22 through 16, they no longer bat an eye at Mom’s crystal grids, eclectic altars or her beloved Tibetan singing bowl, bought courtesy of their science-minded step dad. With so much teen-age angst-ridden emotion in the house on any given day, learning to be a crystal healer has definitely helped me dispel negative energy on many occasions. What is your go-to crystal for grounding?
I’m extremely drawn to smoky quartz. I have several beautiful crystals, and they all offer a warm, earthy hug whenever I’m feeling “spacey” or nervous. Smoky quartz was one of my ultimate favorites even before I fully understood this crystal’s amazing properties of grounding and protection. What are your BIG DREAMS now that you are getting ready to graduate?
With my certification just around the corner, my ultimate dream is to start my own BIG SPARKLY sacred crystal biz! My course work with Hibiscus Moon Academy taught me that it’s never too late to find your passion and reinvent your life no matter what your prior circumstances or background may be. What do you love most about working with crystals?
I equate crystals with unconditional love.
The stone beings are always ready and willing to work with us on many levels. They are entrusted into our care, Mother Earth’s gifts to the human race. When a connection is made, crystals allow us to tap into our inner selves, leading to a better understanding of the light that shines within all of us.
What 3 books are you loving right now?
At the moment, I’m thoroughly enjoying “Crystal Healing, the Therapeutic Application of Crystals and Stones” by Katrina Raphaell, “The Book of Stones” by Robert Simmons & Naisha Ahsian and “Vibrational Medicine” by Richard Gerber, M.D. I believe these three cover all the bases from practical application (Crystal Healing) to the science behind energy healing (Vibrational Medicine). An in-depth guide, The Book of Stones provides a treasure trove of crystal eye candy as well as a plethora of information. Do you have any advice for anyone who is considering this path?
My advice for anyone considering this path is a resounding,
“The world needs you, so go for it!”
If you feel a calling to become an energy healer, follow your inner voice and trust in yourself.
Life is full of chances to change direction; you just have to take the first step.
Karen’s Bio: I’m a mom and a grand-momma to be. A former project coordinator with a business degree, I married my wonderfully supportive British husband in 2009 and left the corporate world that same year. During my stay-at-home-mom days, my sister and I wrote a 1920’s themed novel, which is almost ready to be lovingly sent into the world. While pursuing novel writing and poetry, I stumbled upon my life-altering passion for crystals. I’m looking forward to receiving my crystal healing certification and creating the holistic business of my dreams.
Thank you once again, Karen, for sharing that with us all.
For proving that its not ever too late to make that change & DO WHAT YOU LOVE!
I recently asked the Crystal Hotties on my Facebook Page:
“What are some popular crystal topics that you would like to know about?”
I promised I would take the TOP 2 & turn 1 into a video (working on that this weekend) & the other into a blog post. Here’s that blog post.
I won’t get into what shapes your crystals should be, whether natural, cut or polished here in this post since that’s really a whole other topic for another day. Since this is for a beginner’s kit, my advice is to select the 1 crystal shape or size that calls to you most & still fits within your budget. If that means just getting 1 tumbled stone of each then that will be PERFECT. Go for it!♥
So, what 5 crystals you should have in your beginner’s kit?
Well, that really would vary by individual. But we can determine 5 Must-Haves.
Now, there are so many ways to go with this. But I wanted to keep the list simple using inexpensive & easy-to-obtain crystals. Didn’t want to send you hunting to the ends of the Earth looking for the most rare & expensive crystals I could think of…like this…
This is papagoite…a NOTORIOUSLY expensive crystal due to its rarity & beauty….NOT part of my list. ;)
Drum roll please…
Your 5 Must Have Crystals
1. Clear quartz is a must. It’s so versatile & can be used for ANY purpose so you’ve got to have 1 of these babies.
It’s also a very powerful amplifier! Quartz amplifies any vibrational frequencies, including our own.
Why does quartz work so well with us? B/c clear crystal quartz’ chemical formula is SiO2 aka silica. Scientists have determined that our bodies are partially made of liquid silica crystals. Our cells each have their own EMF (electromagnetic frequency), just as our entire body does, just as Mother Earth does.
Our cells’ EMF is actually maintained by silica! Nobel Prize winner Adolf Butenant, proved that life cannot exist without silica. The average human body holds about 7g of silica, way more than other important minerals such as iron. Yeah! I KNOW!! It’s vital to life.
So needless to say, quartz works with us very well. OK, so that’s my long answer on why quartz is important. Actually…I can go waaaaaaay longer, but I’ll let you off easy this time, Chick Pea.
2. Citrine, which is also quartz that’s been heated up in Mother Earth’s kitchen (actually usually starts out as usually amethyst or sometimes smokey quartz) to turn various shades of champagne, yellow & sometimes a very deep iced tea color known as Medeira.
BTW, I don’t feel that your citrine must be a natural 1. A tumbled citrine will work just fine. I have a 2 part video series on what the difference are & why I feel that way here: Part 1 + Part 2.
This is a natural Congo citrine, quite dark in color. Can you FEEL that sunny energy?
Citrine’s energy is happy & creative so if you’re feeling down or need to get out of a creative block, reach for this. It gives a great boost to anything to do with finances or prosperity & abundance. Its also a great manifestor with it’s sunny energy.
3. Rose quartz, also quartz. Scientists still argue on exactly what elements cause the pink color so we won’t get into that. It grows in masses so you will very rarely find it in a natural point.
It’s a really great stone to have around b/c its energy is very calming, gentle & compassionate….a stone of love; love of all sorts. Whenever you feel the need to feel loved or you need or want to offer compassion, grab your rose quartz. That’s what I do!
A large cut & polished rose quartz point.
4. Green aventurine, again…another type of quartz (are we noticing a theme here?) It also grows in masses so no points at all here. I say “green” aventurine b/c it does come in other colors, although more rare. Also, the greens can vary from very dark to much lighter.
Luscious green aventurine tumblies.
This is a very important stone to get your hands on b/c its all about vitality…of anything; health, growth, finances, confidence, friends. Its a common healing stone so a go-to stone for any ailments.
5. Amethyst, yep, another quartz…with traces of iron & manganese giving it that lovely purple color. They come in natural points large & small, also often found in clusters within large geodes…known as druse.
This amethyst point has been cut & polished.
Amethyst is a great stone of protection & purification. Its also known to enhance intuition & helps with the release of addictions…so a great 1 to have around.
So that’s my 5 crystals! Here’s a quick recap list:
It’s not 100% comprehensive but…with those crystals in your tool box, you can cover a lot of ground, no? If you have others you’d like to add…like I said…there are so many ways we could go with this, please post them in the comments below! 🙂
